20 Best Electric Type Pokemon Ever: Our Top Picks Ranked
Pokemon games and the Pokemon franchise, in general, are widely known for the variety of unique creatures that players and trainers can encounter and capture on their travels.
These creatures come in all shapes and sizes and can widely differ between themselves based on their abilities, size, rarity, and of course, their type.
Fire, Water, Dark, Fairy, and many more are all unique Pokemon types, however, perhaps none of them are as popular as the Electric type due to the franchise’s mascot and main character, Pikachu.
Our yellow anime protagonist is certainly powerful but is by far not the only strong Electric type out there. That is why this article will be focusing on some of the best and strongest Electric Pokemon in the franchise.
1. Ampharos
Starting things off at number one, we gave Ampharos, a pure Electric type Pokemon from the Second Generation. Ampharos is an evolved form of Flaafy and the final form of Mareep which can occur once Flaaffy reaches level thirty. Ampharos is also capable of Mega Evolving by using Ampharosite.
Depending on the generation, this Pokemon’s stats can vary, however, its best stat by far is its Special Attack. Its other stats are above average as well and are more or less equally spread out with the only exception being its Speed which is very low.
All in all, Ampharos is a well-rounded Pokemon that can take a swing or two, while at the same time being able to swing back with one of its many moves such as Zap Cannon, Thunder Punch, and Dragon Pulse.
2. Electivire
Following Ampharos at number two, we have Electivire. This pure Electric type Pokemon was added to the Pokedex in Generation Four and is the final evolutionary form of Elekid. Depending on the game that you are playing, Electivire can evolve from Electabuzz when traded while holding an Electrizer or when exposed to it if you are playing Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
Electivire comes with a total base stats value of 540. Its best stat by far is its Attack at 123, followed by Speed and Special Attack at 95. Its lowest stat is its Defense with a value of 67.
Electivire is capable of learning a wide variety of moves including Wild Charge, Thunder Punch, Flamethrower, Earthquake, and many more which makes it a very versatile Pokemon. Admittedly, there are stronger Electric types out there, and they are not that rare, however, Electivire can prove useful in many specific situations where a different Electric Pokemon just won’t do.
3. Elektross
Elektross is a pure Electric type Pokemon introduced to the franchise in Generation Five. It is the final evolutionary form of Tynamo and an evolved form of Eelektrik which occurs when Eelektrik is exposed to a Thunder Stone.
When it comes to stats, Elektross comes with a total of 515 base stat points with its highest stat being its Attack of 115, followed by its Special Attack at 105. The rest of its stats have a value of around 80, with Speed being the only exception bearing a value of 50.
Elektross also comes with no elemental weaknesses which in itself makes it a good addition to any team, however, it also comes with a wide variety of moves such as Giga Drain which significantly boosts its survivability and Flamethrower which is an excellent offensive move.
4. Jolteon
Any kind of Pokemon list would be incomplete without at least one evolutionary form of Eevee which is why at number four we have Jolteon. This pure Electric type Pokemon is one of many final forms of Eevee and occurs when Eevee is exposed to a Thunder Stone.
Jolteon brings a total of 525 base stat points to the table. Its best stat by far is its Speed with a value of 130, followed by its Special Attack and Special Defense with a value of 110 and 95 respectively. The rest of its stats are more or less equal at around 60 points.
Jolteon is what many players would call a classic glass canon due to its low HP and the ability to deal large amounts of damage. However, Jolteon is not completely defensive. Its moves are specifically tailored to raise its survivability.
Volt Switch is an excellent example as it allows the player to take Jolteon out of battle while doing damage at the same time. Volt Absorb is also a good example since it allows Jolteon to heal itself when hit by an Electric attack.
5. Rotom
Rotom is an Electric/Ghost type introduced in Generation Four and it is one of the more interesting Pokemon on this list due to its ability to change firms depending on what kind of appliance it manages to possess.
Alongside its appearance, abilities, and stats, depending on the form, Rotom’s stats also change. In its base form, Rotom has a total of 440 base stat points, its Special Attack of 95 being its best. In all other forms, Rotom’s total base stats increase to 520 and its best stats become its Defense and Special Defense, both with a value of 107.
We already mentioned that Rotom has a wide variety of moves that it can use depending on what form it is in, however, in all of its forms Rotom is completely immune to all Ground type attacks, courtesy of the Levitate Ability.
6. Toxtricity
Toxtricity made its debut appearance in Generation Eight and is a dual Electric/Poison type. It is an evolved form of Toxel, which occurs when Toexel reaches level 30 and depending on its Nature, it can evolve into two different Forms, the Amped Form and Low Key Form. However, regardless of them, its Gigantamax Form is always the same.
In terms of stats, Toxtricity comes with a total of 502 base stat points. Its highest stat is its Special Attack of 114, followed by its Attack of 98. The rest of its stats are somewhat equal between 70 and 75 points.
Due to it being a poison type, Toxtricity has immunity to poison-based moves which can definitely come in handy. It is also capable of learning a wide variety of moves which makes Toxtricity an excellent attacker.
7. Tapu Koko
Tapu Koko was added to the Pokedex back in Generation Seven and is one of the guardian deities of Melemele Island alongside Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Fini, who are deities of their own respective islands.
This dual Electric/Fairy Type Legendary Pokemon brings an impressive 570 base stat points to the table, with its Speed of 130 being its best asset. Its Attack with a value of 115 is its second-best stat, followed by its Special Attack valued at 95.
Tapu Koko is a very versatile Pokemon that can learn a wide variety of both Electric and Fairy type moves. It also creates an Electric Terrain when it enters the battle which makes it an excellent pick if you have other Electric types in your roster.
Its HP and Defense are somewhat lackluster, however, this is compensated by its Roost ability which allows Tapu Koko to regenerate its lost health.
8. Pawmot
Pawmot is an evolved form of Pawmo and the final form of Pawmi that was introduced in Generation Nine. This dual Electric/Fighting type is generally known for its slow reaction time and sluggish movement, however, don’t let this fool you as this all changes once the battle begins.
When it comes to stats, Pawmot has a total of 490 base stat points. Its best stats are Attack and Speed with a value of 115 and 105 respectively, while its weakest stat is Special Defense with a value of 60.

9. Magnezone
Magnezone is a dual Electric/Steel type Pokemon that was introduced to the Pokemon franchise in Generation Four. It is the final evolutionary form of Magnemite and an evolved form of Magneton which only occurs when Magneton is leveled up in a special magnetic field or exposed to a Thunder Stone.
Magnezone’s best stat by far is its Special Attack of 130, followed by Defense of 115 and Special Defense of 90. The rest of its stats are more or less evenly distributed which in total adds up to 535 base stat points.
Due to its type, Magnezone comes with more weaknesses than a typical Electric type, however, its stats, poison immunity, and a wide variety of moves such as Thunderbolt and Flash Cannon more than make up for it.
10. Zapdos
Zapdos is an Electric/Flying Legendary Pokemon and one of the three Legendary bird Pokemon of Kanto, alongside Moltres and Articuno. Zapdos was introduced way back in Generation One and is known to cause thunderstorms when flapping its wings.
Zapdos comes with a base stat value of 580. Its best stats are its Special Attack and Speed, valued at 125 and 100 respectively and its other stats are almost evenly distributed which makes it an excellent well-rounded Pokemon.
Overall, Zapdos is a great addition to any team due to its excellent stats, few weaknesses, and a huge arsenal of abilities it can learn such as Static, Thunder, and Zap Cannon.
11. Luxray
Luxray is a pure Electric type Pokemon that was added to the Pokedex in Generation Four and over the years, it has become a favorite of many players out there. This lion-like Pokemon is an evolved form of Luxio that occurs once Luxio reaches level 30, and the final evolutionary form of Shinx.
Stats-wise, Luxray comes off pretty strong with a base stat value of 523. Its Attack of 120 and Special Attack of 95 are its strongest stats, however, the rest of them are not too far behind which makes Luxray an excellent Pokemon all around.
Luxray is capable of learning a wide variety of powerful moves such as Spark, Thunder Fang, and Crunch which when combined with its high stats and admittedly cool looks make it worthy of an entry on this list.
12. Galvantula
Next up we have Galvantula, a dual-type Electric/Bug Pokemon that first appeared back in Generation Five. This yellow arachnid evolves from Joltik once it reaches level 36 and uses electric silk to capture its prey.
Galvantula’s stats are somewhat lower than most of the entries on this list, totaling at 472 base stat points. Its best stat is Speed with a value of 108, followed by Special Attack valued at 97. Its other stats are comparatively low, and nothing to write home about.
Fortunately, Galvantula makes up for its low stats with its diverse move set. Its moves such as Bug Buzz are super effective against any Grass type Pokemon and can lower its Special Defense, while moves like Sticky Web are capable of slowing down opponents.
13. Pikachu
We can’t really make a list of Electric Pokemon without mentioning Pikachu. Let’s face it, it just wouldn’t feel right.
Our little yellow protagonist first appeared way back in Generation One and is an evolved form of Pichu. Over the years, Pikachu has become an icon and one of the most recognizable characters in the world, not just when it comes to the Pokemon franchise, but in general.
Pikachu has a total base stat value of 300 with Speed being its best asset. Its weakest stat by far is its Defense. Depending on the generation, Pikachu’s stat values may change, however, its Speed and Defense always remain its highest, and lowest stat respectively.
Pikachu can learn a whole bunch of moves such as Electro Ball, Spark, Discharge, and of course Thunderbolt.
14. Raikou

Raikou has a total base stats value of 580 and both its Speed and Special Attack carry the value of 115. Its weakest stat is its Defense of 75.
Raikou is a very versatile Pokemon that can make good use of abilities such as Calm Mind and Assualt Vest and deal a lot of damage in the process. It is also capable of learning a whole bunch of moves that it can effectively utilize in battle. Its defense is also above average which makes it an excellent addition to any team.
15. Thundurus
Thundurus is yet another Legendary Pokemon to appear on this list. This Electric/Flying type was introduced in Generation Five and is considered to be one of the Forces of Nature along with Landorus, Enamorus, and Tornadus.
Thundurus comes in two forms, the standard form known as the Incarnate Forme and the Therian Forme which activates upon using the Reveal Glass. Both of these forms have a total of 580 base stat points, however, their distribution differs depending on the form.
Both Incarnate Forme and Therian Forme are heavily focused on offense, however, they work a little differently. The Incarnate Forme lets the player buff up and prepare for a quick sweeping attack through the use of abilities such as Prankster, while the Therian Forme lets the player emphasize electric attacks via the use of Volt Absorb.
16. Manectric
Manectric made its debut appearance as early as Generation Three and is a pure Electric type Pokemon and an evolved form of Eletctrike which occurs upon it reaching level 26. Manectric is also capable of Mega Evolving into Mega Manectric with the use of Manectite.
In terms of stats, the regular version of Manectric comes with a total of 475 base stat points. Tied for the best stat are its Speed and Special Attack, both with a value of 105. The rest of its stats are somewhat evenly distributed.
Manectric is primarily an offensive Pokemon, and as such, it isn’t capable of taking a lot of damage and can be quickly removed from the battlefield. However, its high speed and offensive capabilities, paired up with a plethora of strong moves such as Shock Wave, Thunder Fang, Discharge, Wild Charge, and Thunder, more than make up for its lack of defense.
17. Regieleki
Regieleki is a pure Electric type Legendary Pokemon who debuted with the Eighth Generation and is one of the Legendary Titans alongside Regice, Registeel, Regirock, and Regidrago. According to legends, Regieleki is made of pure energy and absorbs electrons in order to sustain itself. It is also believed that it is the strongest among Electric Pokemon,
Stats-wise, Regieleki is as powerful as any other Legendary Pokemon with a total stats value of 580 points, however, what separates it from the bunch is its incredible Speed with a value of 200. This is followed by Attack and Special Attack, both of which are valued at 100 each, while the rest of its stats are relatively low.
It is true that Reigeleki has less than average HP as well as defensive capabilities, however, it more than makes up for it with its incredible speed and a wide variety of powerful moves such as Thunder Cage.
18. Lanturn
Lanturn is an Electric/Water type Pokemon from the Second Generation and an evolved form of Chinchou. This evolution is possible once Chinchou hits level 27. Lanturn inhabits the ocean depths and is known to lure and blind its prey with its glow before swallowing it whole.
As far as stats go, Lanturn brings a total of 460 base stat points. Its HP is by far Lanturn’s highest stat with an assigned value of 125. The rest of its stats are somewhat evenly distributed, however its Attack and Defense of 58 are the weakest.
Contrary to the majority of entries on this list, Lanturn is more of a support Pokemon rather than an offensive charger. It comes with a plethora of moves such as Heal Bell, Scald, and Volt Switch which can be used to effectively control the course of battle.
19. Dracozolt
Slowly approaching the end of our list, we have Dracozolt, an Electric/Dragon FOssil Pokemon that made its debut appearance in Generation Eight. This Pokemon was resurrected by using a Fossilized Bird and Fossilized Drake and it is widely believed that it is somehow related to Dracovish and Arctozolt. It is currently unknown if Dracozolt is capable of evolving into anything, or whether it evolves from any other Pokemon.
Taking a look at Dracozolt’s stats, we can see that it has a total of 505 base stat points which is not too shabby. Its best stat is its Attack of 100, however, the rest of its stats are not too far behind, having a value between 70 and 90.
In terms of abilities, Dracozolt has the capability to learn many of them, among which are moves like Bolt Beak and its hidden ability Sand Rush. This, combined with its great stats spread, makes it an excellent addition to any team and a candidate worthy of appearing on this list.
20. Zekrom
Last but most certainly not least, we have Zekrom, an Electric/Dragon type Legendary Pokemon from Generation Five and the game mascot of Pokemon White. Zekrom is also a member of the Tao Trio from the Unova Region alongside Reshiram and Kyurem.
Zekrom has the highest base stats of all other Pokemon on this list, bringing to the table an incredible 680 points. These are, to some degree, evenly spread out, however, its Attack is Zekrom’s highest stat with a value of 150.
Overall, there is not much to say about Zekrom, besides that its stats are insanely high and that its power reflects that, so much so that many consider it the strongest Electric type out there, and moves like Bolt Strike do an excellent job of confirming that statement.
