10 Electric-Type Pokemon That Are Basically Generators

Some Electric-types are truly overpowered in terms of the amount of electricity they can produce.

The Pokemon franchise has had a loyal fan base for multiple decades at this point, and fans love to attach themselves to certain generations and/or Pokemon types. The Electric-type is rather popular despite not being attached to Starter Pokemon, and that could be largely thanks to Pikachu being a primary character in the anime.

Kids couldn’t wait to get their hands on their own Pikachu or start the game with one in Pokemon Yellow. Electric-types often produce their own energy and if they existed in the real world, some of them could be lifesavers, considering they are literal living generators.

Manectric

Electric Pokemon manectric

Not only does Manectric look like the mascot of an 80s pop band, but it also happens to share a close relationship with lightning. It naturally feels drawn to areas where lightning has struck, and in turn, led to the fables that believed these creatures were born from these lightning strikes.

They’re rare to observe in the wild, so owning one with the possibility of using it as a generator in dire situations would be rather uncommon. It releases electricity from its mane, which may not be efficient, and also could result in the creation of thunderclouds in the sky.

Electivire

Electric Pokemon Electivire

Despite Electabuzz being known as a devourer of electricity, its final form named Electivire is quite competent at providing tons of electricity. It’s known as the Thunderbolt Pokemon and first made its appearance in the Sinnoh region featured in the fourth generation of games.

The Pokedex states Electivire can discharge up to 20,000 volts of power and also says that a single Electivire has enough power to provide energy to a large city for an entire year — pretty incredible for a big yellow yeti-looking creature with alien antennae.

Flaaffy

Electric Pokemon Flaffy

Not only does the fleece on Flaaffy’s body provide a layer of warmth and protection for the pink sheep, but it also stores a good amount of electricity. The hide on its body is rubbery, which allows it to avoid being electrocuted by its fleece.

In turn, this allows Flaaffy to store a tremendous amount of electricity in its fur. If its tail lights up, that’s a sign it is full of electrical energy, which is a convenient telltale sign for those depending on their Flaaffy to help power things as a living generator.

7

Boltund

Electric Pokemon Boltund

Most people are familiar with generators that work based on movement from a kinetic source. The most common example is when a hamster or mouse runs on a wheel.

For Boltund, this would be no issue, as the Electric-type canine can run for up to three full days thanks to its ability to channel its generated electricity into its legs. For trainers, the problem here is that they would need to evolve their Yamper into Boltund, and that’s a tough ask considering how adorable Yamper is as a tiny electrified corgi.

6

Jolteon

Electric Pokemon Jolteon

Jolteon is a beloved Kanto region Electric-type Pokemon and a fan-favorite when it comes to the large list of Eevee evolutionary forms. Since a lot of its electrical energy comes as a result of static created by the fur on its body, it could be less efficient in terms of providing direct power when compared to other Pokemon on this list.

Most generators produce around 120 or 240 volts, whereas Jolteon can blast out lightning bolts of well over 10,000 volts when it has manifested enough negative ions in its body.

5

Regieleki

Regieleki In Battle, Pokemon Sword And Shield

The newest Electric-type Pokemon on the block happens to be a powerful generator and made its debut in Pokemon Sword & Shield. The Electron Pokemon, as it is known, is a sentient collection of electrical energy with blue rings on all of its extremities.

These rings serve as control points of sorts and removing them could be catastrophic. Its entire body is a single organ that can create electrical energy and is said to harness enough power to supply all of the necessary power needed for the entire Galar region.

4

Pikachu

Electric Pokemon Pikachu

It’s clear to most fans that Ash Ketchum’s Pikachu is very special and unique to the species, but the Electric-type mouse species more generally packs a bit of a shocking punch. Researchers state that having a large number of them gathered together could result in lightning storms appearing in the sky.

Since Pikachu releases its stored energy through its cheeks, it has some semblance of control. This allows it to shoot lightning bolts out and send them flying to specified locations, allowing it to power up or shock something in particular.

3

Charjabug

Electric Pokemon Charjabug

The middle form of Pokemon evolutions, especially Bug-types, are often considered some of the least memorable Pokemon. With Charjabug, it’s a completely different story, as the Electric- and Bug-type Pokemon more than lives up to its label as the Battery Pokemon.

Its body is capable of storing energy and those living on the Alolan Islands are said to benefit from this on camping trips. Charjabug builds and generates electricity in its body thanks to the food it ingests, so it’s a win-win for everyone involved.

2

Heliolisk

Electric Pokemon Heliolisk

Among the various Electric-types, the Normal- and Electric-type known as Heliolisk is often an afterthought. This is partially due to it being native to the Kalos region, a place most trainers have subpar feelings about exploring.

In its official Pokedex entry, it states that it generates electricity by moving its frills. It goes on to say that the power it can generate is enough to power an entire skyscraper. A family looking to set things right after a power outage would need much less energy than that, so investing in a Heliolisk seems like a no-brainer.

1

Rotom

Electric Pokemon Rotom

Rotom takes the idea of an Electric-type Pokemon being a generator to another level. Since it is also a Ghost-type creature, it can possess things, and Rotom loves to possess electrical tools, items, and hardware. This means that it could be a generator by simply possessing one.

It wouldn’t be too surprising and likely something the Plasma Pokemon hailing from the Sinnoh region has already done at some point. Rotom is a bit of a troublemaker though, so entrusting it with sustaining an electrical grid might be a bit of a gamble.
