holiday?
On lunar December 23rd, every family offers worshipping rituals to see
Ông Táo or the Kitchen Gods off to the Heaven to deliver an annual
report of the family’s household affairs. The Kitchen Gods, the guardian
spirit of the kitchen, are believed to be two male gods and one female,
who keep up the kitchen fire and bless the family’s happiness and well-

being ness. After seeing the Kitchen Gods off to Heaven, families begin
tidying and decorating their houses; preparing food for Tết feasts and
more ritual stuff for Tết ceremonies to beautifully and plentifully
welcome the New Year.
Vào ngày 23 tháng Chạp, tất cả gia đình Việt Nam đều tất bật bày biện
một lễ cúng tiễn ông Táo về trời để ổng báo cáo với ông Trời về chuyện
của gia đình trong năm.
Ông Táo là các vị thần bếp, gồm hai ông và một bà. Người Việt tin là
Ông Táo giữ lửa cho bếp của gia đình và giúp gia đình có cuộc sống
hạnh phúc và an bình.
Từ 23 tháng Chạp, sau khi tiễn đưa Ông Táo về trời, các gia đình bắt đầu
dọn dẹp, trang trí nhà cửa; chuẩn bị các món ăn Tết và đồ cúng để chào

đón Năm Mới.
