Need First blog post Ideas?

Running short of first blog post ideas? You’ve decided to start your blog, but you’re thinking, “ What should I write for my first blog post?” How exciting, and also how scary isn’t it?

To help you, this blog post is filled with first blog post ideas and examples you can copy and get you writing on your very first blog!

I remember how it feels when you’re going to write your first blog post. Mine was back in 2020.

You can’t decide on what exactly you should write about.

You think you don’t have any original ideas or that what you want to write about has already been written, or it may be that you’re just not being able to start fearing that it won’t be PERFECT!

But I am here to help you and make writing your first blog post considerably easy with some tips and ideas.

Before I begin, here are somethings important which you should know before you write your first blog post.

What you should know before writing your first blog post

1. Who your blog audience will be

Before you write your first blog post, you must have a fair idea on who your blog audience will be.

Who do you want to target as your reader? or rather,

Who do you want to be of help through your blog?

As for me, my readers are both men and women (mostly women) in their 20s and 30s who are trying to get better in their personal growth journey by creating better habits, simplifying life, and bringing more joyfulness into their daily lives.

You might as well imagine a person facing certain problems and challenges which you might like to help through your blog posts, and then write your blog post as if writing specifically to that one person.

This also helps in brainstorming new blog post ideas.

Remember, that not everyone will be and should be your reader. Your blog should cater only to a specific audience if you want to grow.

If you try to build an audience of all, you will fail.

Figuring out who your blog audience will be is also the first step towards figuring our what your blog will be about.

2. What your blog categories will be

Next, to make writing your first blog post easy, get clear on what your blog categories will be.

For my blog, my categories are- self improvement, Lifestyle and Blogging.

Because I have focused my blog on these three categories, so I wouldn’t write a post on say- gardening, or personal finance, or DIY as such.

All the posts I write are centred towards fitting only either of my three broad categories. This also makes it much easier to find new blog post ideas.

As for you, if you want to start a health and fitness blog, your categories could be:

  • diet
  • exercise
  • healthy living

or

  • running
  • mental health
  • food and nutrition

When you’re starting, get clear on atleast 3 categories and build from there.

Once you get clear on your categories, it becomes easier to know what your first blog post will cover.

So these are the only two things I’d like you to keep in mind.

You don’t have to bother about whether what you want to write has already been written, and so it wont be original.

As long as you’re writing from your own experience and your own thoughts, whatever you create IS original. We are all building from each other and I’m starting to think that there’s no such things as truly original idea.

You might as well read the book called, ‘Steal like an Artist’ to get started as a creator.

Now, lets get to the main part- here are 12 first blog post ideas

Your first blog post can be simply a little bit of an introduction about your blog and about yourself which you can share in your social media handles.

There are many famous bloggers who have written their first blog post as in introduction of their blog and themselves.
