Yes, I think the concept is pretty violent but there is no deep gore and description. I read the books when I was 11 and was fine with them. The only thing I will say is that the new prequel that just came out (The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) has more violence and gore than the original series but I still think that it is definitely suitable for anyone over the age of 11.
