Alamo Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Enterprise Rent-A-Car are rental car agencies operating as subsidiaries under Enterprise Holdings Inc. Originally founded as separate and competing companies, a series of merges and acquisitions has led to all three companies being owned by Enterprise since 2007. Shuttle bus service is operated at various airports to transport passengers from airport terminals to the rental car centers. History

Alamo Rent-A-Car was founded in 1974 in Orlando, FL.
National Car Rental was founded in 1947.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car was founded in 1957 in St. Louis, MO as Executive Leasing Company (renamed Enterprise in 1969).

Operators

Alamo and National were acquired by Republic Industries (later renamed AutoNation) in 1996. AutoNation spun off its rental car division as ANC Rental in 2000.
Vanguard Automotive Group acquired Alamo and National in 2003 after ANC Rental folded.
Enterprise Holdings Inc. was established when Enterprise Rent-A-Car acquired Vanguard Automotive Group in 2007 and took over operations of Alamo-National.[1]
