Xootz Comet Electric Go Kart, Kids Ride-On Racing Go Kart, 2 Speed with Drift Mode and Reversing, Steering Wheel, and Pedals, 2 x 12V Rechargeable Batteries, Custom, Black : Amazon.co.uk: Toys & Games

Blimey this is pretty heavy – the box it arrived in was huge and I couldn’t lift it at all, thankfully the very helpful Amazon guy put it straight in the garage for me. Took my husband mere minutes to assemble (he wanted a go but I wouldn’t let him, there’s quite a lot of him and this is aimed at older children/young teenagers primarily, not 15 stone, 6ft grandfathers!). We charged the batteries, which, just be aware, take quite a long time to charge, we left them on overnight, then loaded it into the car to take to the family. Again, be aware, this takes up a lot of room in the boot of your car, so don’t pack for a week’s holiday as well, you’ll never fit it all in. And I couldn’t lift it, I’m just not strong enough. But wow, the expression on the grandchildrens’ faces…..awe, delight and excitement. They had such a great time racing around – yes it works on grass, better on paved areas really I’d say but still, incredibly effective. It’s so manoeuvrable and it just looks like so much fun. I was quite jealous but I doubt my arthritis, let alone my weight, would allow me to squeeze in there. I reckon we got a good couple of hours constant use out of it, then the batteries need charging again.
It’s certainly an exciting, very popular “toy” and it would have got 5 stars, but you do need to account for the bulk and weight of it, for transport and storage. I’m quite glad it’s no longer kept in our garage… It really needs wide open spaces to really enjoy it and of course it’s going to need charging regularly. And, let’s face it, over £300 is a pretty pricey present for any family. However, as the age range is quite wide, this could last through several children for some years, so that helps the value a fair bit. That’s from a parent/grandparent perspective – any 8 or 9 year old receiving this is going to simply be awestruck and thoroughly delighted.
