Before you make a purchase, just divide the price by the total square footage. For example, if a roll of wrapping paper is $5 and you get 100 square feet, type 5 ÷ 100 into your calculator. The 30-square-foot wrapping paper rolls for $0.98 from Holiday Time at Walmart are your best bet. They also have some larger 200-square-foot rolls for $6.48. This also works out to $.03 per square foot, so snatch those up if you have a lot of wrapping to do this year. You may be tempted to grab the 80-square-foot rolls for $5.48 to save room in your cart, but those work out to nearly $.07 per square foot. So unless you score the $0.98 rolls or the 200-square-foot rolls, you’ll be paying extra.

When it’s on sale, snag Hobby Lobby wrapping paper for $0.04 per square foot.

Hobby Lobby regularly slashes their wrapping paper up to 50% off, dropping it from $9.99 to $4. With 100 square feet to a roll, that works out to $0.04 per square foot and one of the best prices you’ll find this year. At the $9.99 price for 100 square feet, you’ll be spending $.10 per square foot, so be sure to stock up during the Hobby Lobby 60% off promo periods.

Hobby Lobby is sold-out online for all of their sale wrapping paper, but here are some best bets to look for in store.

Shop the buy one get one 50% off at Walgreens for $0.04 per square foot.

Walgreens has a buy one get one 50% off promotion on wrapping paper. When you buy two of their 3-pack rolls with 125 square feet at $6.99 each, you get a total of 250 square feet of wrapping paper for $10.49 after the promotion. This works out to $0.04 per square foot. When Walgreens is not running a sale, $6.99 for 125 square feet of wrapping paper works out to $0.05 per square foot, which still isn’t a bad deal.

For lots of presents, shop in bulk at Costco for $0.05 per square foot.

If you’re on the hunt for a lot of wrapping paper this year, Costco is where it’s at. They have 540 square feet of Kirkland Double-Sided Gift Wrap rolls for just $29.99. Yes, 540 square feet is a lot, but the fact that it’s six rolls and double-sided means you’ll have tons of options and won’t get sick of using the same paper. Plus, whatever you don’t use this year will look brand-new next year!

Get Christmas wrapping paper at Target from $0.05 per square foot with a RedCard.

Target wrapping paper is stacking up against the rest this year. If you’re a Target RedCard holder, Target will get you a deal as good as Costco’s without having to commit to a full 540 square feet of paper. Their 100-square-foot rolls each come in at $5, and with a RedCard 5% discount you pay just $4.75. It’s worth noting that you should double-check that the roll you’re buying is 100 square feet. Some other Target paper is $5 and only offers 25 square feet, which works out to be a not-so-good deal.

For deals on smaller square footage, check Dollar Tree for $0.05 per square foot.

Dollar Tree‘s 25-square-foot rolls at $1.25 work out to the same $0.05 per square foot as Costco and Target. This is a great option if you don’t want to commit to buying a lot of wrapping paper this year but still want to get a great price.

Michaels has wrapping paper for $0.06 per square foot with a buy one, get one sale.

Michaels offers a buy one get one promotion on wrapping paper. When you buy two 50-square-foot rolls at $5.99 each and the second one rings in at $0, that works out to $0.06 per square foot. When it’s not on sale, Michaels wrapping paper at $5.99 for 50 square feet is $0.12 per square foot. So only shop Michaels for the sale price.

We don’t normally suggest that you skip out on Amazon because they have some amazing deals. But in early December, holiday wrapping paper does not seem to be one of them. Likely due to Amazon’s dynamic pricing model and increased demand this time of year, most wrapping paper is going for around $0.10 per square foot. That being said, keep an eye out for sales and definitely check Amazon for after-Christmas sales.

Aim to spend no more than $0.05 per square foot.

A $0.03 per-square-foot roll is the best value we’ve seen, so that should be your goal if you want to get the best wrapping paper deals available. But with three great stores offering wrapping paper for just $0.05 per square foot, you’re sure to easily score that price. We recommend not going over that threshold.
