Conditions for visa extension/re-issuance

To extend a visa for foreigners in Vietnam, their visa type needs to be in the category allowed to be extended. In addition, the following criteria must be met:

• The foreigners who need to extend a Vietnam visa must have a company/ organization or Vietnamese person to sponsor their visa extension.

• Their passports need to be valid for at least 1 month longer than the visa.

• Foreigners who need to extend their visas are not on the list of mandatory exits of the Vietnam Immigration Department.

Normally, after extension, the working visa will be valid for a maximum of 1 year. In case the applicant for a Vietnam visa extension does not have a work permit or confirmation of work permit exemption, only a 3-month visa extension is granted.

Procedures for extending investment visa DT1, DT2, DT3, DT4

A dossier for foreign investors to carry out investment visa extension procedures in Vietnam includes the following:

• A valid copy of the operating license of the agency or enterprise that sponsors foreign investors.

• Original passport and latest Visa.

• Passports and latest visas of foreigners
