In fact, the floral industry in Singapore has progressed since Work From Home (WFH) became a norm. Some households even subscribe to fresh flower subscriptions to create calm, productive home environments to work and live in.

Bring a jacket along if you think you’ll be browsing for a bit. In most nurseries in Singapore, flowers are kept in cold rooms.

1. Far East Orchid by Far East Flora

Think of flowers and plantscaping, and the name that’ll pop up would likely be Far East Flora. Far East Orchid is its floral arm, with the the wholesale fresh flower centre located right next to Far East Flora. Here, you’ll find a wide array of imported fresh cut flowers at wholesale prices – think dahlias, roses, peonies, tulips and calla lilies. It’s even got cherry blossoms from Japan for the festive season, from what we’ve seen on its Facebook page.

2. G.G Fresh Flower

Inconspicuously tucked away at New Industrial Road, fresh flowers and foliage are imported daily from all over the world, including Holland, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Colombia, Ecuador, Italy and Kenya. With a cold room at 4000 sq, the variety here is quite extensive and you’ll get beautiful, quality blooms. In fact, we heard that many florists get their supplies here.

3. Sing See Soon

A go-to for wedding, hotel and event decor, it currently imports over 100 varieties of flowers from New Zealand, Holland, Taiwan, China, Malaysia, India and Bangkok. It recently announced that its fresh flowers are available for purchase so head down to its Simei outlet to pick out your favourite blooms – you’ll find the likes of tulips, roses, spider mums, eryngiums and hypericum berries.

4. Ji Mei Flower

Also along the Upper Thomson stretch, Ji Mei Flower is where you can drop by for lovely flowers like hyacinths, delphiniums, heliconias, phalaenopsis orchids; they import blooms from across the globe, from countries like Kenya, Japan, Netherlands, Ecuador, Colombia, Australia, and Taiwan.

Stored in a massive cold room, you’ll find everything from rainbow roses to heliconias and phalaenopsis orchids, all carefully packed and ready to go at stunningly attractive prices. It also has festive floral arrangements that are ready for display, if you find that you’re not quite adept at putting your own together.

5. Cold Storage

Are flowers from the grocery stores good? Yes, the flowers you find in NTUC and Cold Storage are supplied from the same few major flower nurseries in Singapore.

If you’re short on time or left your flower shopping to the last minute, make your way to your nearest Cold Storage. The variety might be limited but we’ve managed to pick up lilies, eustomas, chrysanthemums, roses, orchids, and statice (depending on season and availability). Plus, they come in smaller bunches than those you’ll find at the wholesaler, so you can create your own centrepiece or bouquet without spending too much.

6. G Flower Wholesale

You can head to G Flower Wholesale’s cold room to browse its offerings, or can save yourself a trip and order fresh flowers from its website. The process is pretty simple, and the website even has an order page with an updated price list and the latest arrivals — we found roses, gerberas, alstroemerias, hydrangeas, and more.

7. Kampong Flowers

Kampong Flowers bills itself a boutique importer and wholesaler in Singapore, and which specialises in nostalgic, romantic, and fresh cut garden roses sourced from around the world. And you can skip the hassle by ordering flowers directly from its website. It has a page that’s updated with blooms that are currently available in-store and sure enough, we found a dizzying array of roses on the market, including the coveted David Austin roses.

You can drop by its cold room to see the blooms, but you’ll have to book an appointment via their website’s contact page.

8. Direct Wholesale Flower

Those living in the North can make a trip down to this family-owned flower wholesaler located at Gambas Cresent. Visit its cold room to pick out your choice of blooms, or take the hassle-free route by shopping on its online portal. It has a same-day click-and-collect service that allows you to pick up your purchase in just 90 minutes, too.

9. Heartland Wet Markets

If you haven’t been to the wet market in ages, scout around at your nearby markets and you could find some offering fresh blooms. The selection might not be great, but some common wet market finds include lilies, roses, eustomas, chrysanthemums and baby’s breath.

10. Wee Lee Nursery & Florist

Wee Lee Nursery and Florist is located just opposite the Seletar Aerospace Park (where the hype cafes are). If you live around Yishun, Tampines, or Punggol, this will be pretty convenient for you since it’s connected by TPE.

Wee Lee Nursery is a family-run florist business that’s been around since 1982. 40 years into business, Wee Lee offers a wide range of botanicals in store. Fresh cut flowers aside, you’ll find potted plants, orchids, and floristry services.

While you’re here at Wee Lee, walk around the neighbouring nurseries as well such as Kim Hai Orchid, Sg Orchids, Chwee Nursery, and Wild Botanicals.

11. Smile Floral

There are few flower shops in the west side of Singapore – save for the few XpressFlowers in Westgate and other malls, Corona Flowers near Sunset Way, and that massive Far East Flora that’s currently still under construction next to SIM and Ngee Ann Poly.

Located in the industrial estate next to Commonwealth MRT station, online florist Smile Floral offers same day flower deliveries. In fact, you get free doorstep delivery for orders over $70.

Like many other florist shops, Smile Floral is not a wholesale flower nursery. Instead, they sell ready-made fresh flower bouquets for occasions such as proposals, graduations, birthdays, flower stands for store openings and condolences.

12. Sky Floral

Located at Kaki Bukit, Sky Floral was established in 2007 by Mr Sky Yeo Siong Kie whose family has been in the flower business since the 1960s.

Sky Floral’s flowers come from Holland, Taiwan, China, and Malaysia. Most notably, Sky Floral carries Heliconia, of the fake Bird of Paradise.

13. Floral Garage

Floral is not a wholesale flower supplier. However, it is a florist that offers free same day delivery. Most of the fresh flowers come in hand bouquets, flower boxes, and crowns for occasions.

You get free same day delivery if you order before 5pm. On Sundays and public holidays, you’ll need to order before 12:30pm to meet the free delivery cut off time.

How to make fresh flowers last longer?

Adding bleach, aspirin, soda water and even Listerine to your vase of flowers are some of the suggestions offered on the internet to help your flowers last longer.

Here’s the truth. None of them work.

There have been numerous tests to see which of these individual substances would help your flowers last longer, but alone, they don’t make a difference. Put them together, and you make a pretty potent flower preserver.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Water
2 tbsp Lemon Juice
½ tbsp Bleach
1 tbsp Sugar

Step 1

Cut off half an inch of stem from your flowers. This prevents air from being sucked into the stem and blocking your plants uptake of water. It also removes any bacteria growing at the ends.

Step 2

Fill your vase with water. Just two-thirds of the vase is enough. The best water to use for fresh flowers would be water with a PH level of about 3 to 3.5PH.

Step 3

If you use tap water has a PH level of about 7, so bring the PH levels down and make it more acidic by adding lemon juice.

Step 4

Add sugar, this will duplicate the sugar rush that occurs during photosynthesis. A downside to this is that it also promotes bacterial growth.

Step 5

Combat the bacterial growth with some bleach. Give the mixture a good shake and pop your flowers into the vase. (The water will turn cloudy, but not to fear! It’s fine.)

Finally, change your vase’s water every three days and cut off another inch from your stem bottoms.
