The Cheapest Studio Apartments for Rent in Singapore (2020)
If you gave us a dollar for all the times we’ve dreamt of living in our own bachelor/ bachelorette pad, we’d probably actually be living in one right now.
But is this dream really that hard to turn into a reality? We used URA‘s record of condo rentals to find 10 of the cheapest condo studio apartments for rent in Singapore.
Of course, these are all shoebox apartments, but it’s perfect for those looking to move out by themselves. (Also, less space means less cleaning, and cleaning is meh.)
And here they are:
Mục Lục
The Hillford
Price: From $1,200/month
Location: Upper Bukit Timah
About The Hillford: This is also the one of the cheapest condos for sale in Singapore. Because of its low price, landlords can also afford to offer lower rental rates while still enjoying a healthy rental yield. And you get to live in the upmarket Upper Bukit Timah area, close to plenty of F&B and lifestyle options.
Parc Rosewood
Price: From $1,300/month
Location: Woodlands
About Parc Rosewood: There’s the 50m lap pool, aromatherapy pool, wading pool, jacuzzi spa pool, lake pool… What we’re trying to say is, the amenities in this low-rise, resort-inspired condo are quite something.
Suites @ Topaz
Price: From $1,500/month
Location: Potong Pasir
About Suites @ Topaz: With boutique condos like these, the facilities aren’t as elaborate as those in larger condos. But it’s just off the banks of Kallang River, so that more than makes up for it. All in all, a good pick if you’re after a centrally-located, peaceful bachelor/ bachelorette pad.
Suites @ Guillemard
Price: From $1,400/month
Location: Geylang
About Suites @ Guillemard: Geylang is fast becoming the place to live – good city fringe location, plenty of round-the-clock amenities, yet prices remain affordable. If you’re looking to rent in a city-fringe location, this is probably one of your best bets.
Treasures @ G20
Price: From $1,500/month
Location: Geylang
About Treasures @ G20: Treasures @ G20 has only 38 units, all of which are 1-bedders. So while you’ve got plenty of peace and quiet, your neighbours will probably be like-minded people living independently. Also, ditto our previous point about Geylang being a great place to call home.
Vibes @ East Coast
Price: From $1,400/month
Location: East Coast
About Vibes @ East Coast: This mixed-use development also houses 28 retail shops, so amenities are literally at your doorstep. But don’t be a hermit – you’re in the heart of the Katong/ East Coast district, and there’s plenty to love here!
Trilive Condominium
Price: From $1,200/month
Location: Kovan
About Trilive: Actually, all of the units rented out for below $1,500/month were the adjoining studios of 2-bedroom dual key units (hence it’s indicated as 2-bedroom units, as you’ll see below). But hey, still counts. Trilive doesn’t have studio units, but the cheapest actual 1-bedroom unit costed $2,200/month.
Ecopolitan
Price: From $1,100/month
Location: Punggol
About Ecopolitan: The Ecopolitan is an Executive Condominium, but has facilities as good as any other condo – it’s got a 50m lap pool, a jet pool, a gym, a forest jogging, a putting green and more. Like The Trilive, the cheapest rentals you’ll find here are adjoining studios of dual key units.
Forestville
Price: From $1,000/month
Location: Woodlands
About Forestville: Another Executive Condominium. Also, although Woodlands is considered a non-mature estate, you’ll still enjoy tons of amenities in your vicinity, from hawker centres to shopping malls to little pockets of nature.
Eight Riversuites
Price: From $1,450/month
Location: Boon Keng
About Eight Riversuites: It’s by the river (hence its name), so it’s already got bonus points. It’s also close to plenty of famous local food spots in Whampoa (Hello, Balestier Road Hoover Rojak!) and just a short drive to town.
Cheapest studio apartments in Singapore
So yes, you’ll find affordable rentals (as in, relatively affordable rentals) in any district in Singapore. In general, rentals in Executive Condominiums and smaller boutique condos tend to be cheaper.
Pro tip: You can also DIY the rental procedure to save on agent fees.
Want to take it a step further? If your lease is expiring, offer to help look for a new tenant to take over your lease, in exchange for half a month or a month’s rent off. Some landlords would be more than glad to take up your offer to save themselves the effort of finding a new tenant.
Happy home-shopping!
