The fifth season, which is named as Sword Art Online Progressive by the makers, covers the first volume of the Progressive series, the Aria of Starless Night. In this rump season five, you will see how the lead characters Kirito “Kirigaya” and Asuna get trapped into a virtual game, named Sword Art Online. The most powerful thing about the story that makes this series so special is that if Kirito and Asuna die in any of the circumstances inside the game, they will die in the real world as well.

Sword Art Online season 5 release date?

Sword Art Online Season 4 (English dub) was released on Netflix in its entirety on February 6, 2022. It is divided into 25 episodes, each of which lasts approximately 24-25 minutes. Originally airing in Japan from October 13, 2019, to September 20, 2020, the anime was later licensed and made available on Netflix.

According to the most recent information available, neither Studio A-1 Pictures nor any other entities involved in the show’s production have announced a renewal of the anime series, as of August 2022.

Therefore, an official air date for the fifth season of Sword Art Online is not announced yet. Moreover, the fourth season came out in February 2022 which makes it impossible for a new season to release this year. However, it is expected for the fifth installment to be out sometime in 2023 but most likely in 2023.
