SsangYong to launch its first EV in New Zealand

Pricing and specification of the SsangYong Korando e-Motion EV have been revealed.

SsangYong is about to add another entrant in the increasingly competitive small/medium electric SUV segment, with the Korean company’s local distributor revealing the pricing and specification of the Korando e-Motion ahead of its launch later this year.

The Korando e-Motion is powered by a 140kW/360Nm electric motor driving the front wheels, while a 62kWh battery is good for a claimed range of up to 339km. This puts it on-par with two direct competitors – the slightly smaller 50.3kWh MG ZS EV (130kW/280Nm/320km) and the 50kWh BYD Atto 3 (150kW/310Nm/354km), which is roughly the same size as the SsangYong.

However, the Korando will be slightly more expensive, with a price of $59,990 plus on road costs, with a $3000 premium for a black roof paint option.

The MG’s pricing also includes on-road costs, however, and all cars are eligible for the full $8625 Clean Car rebate.
