Reddit – Dive into anything
Im a longtime vegetarian, and I’m trying to help out my allergy dogs by making them a meal supplement that contains the vet recommended green beans and sweet potatoes. I do this by adding chicken, chicken hearts, chicken livers, rice, sweet potatoes and green beans to a crock pot and letting it cook.
My problem is I’m trying to lower my average cost, and right now I’m stuck buying frozen chicken breasts for 6 dollars for three lbs, and I know there’s got to be a cheaper route.
My problem is, as a longtime vegetarian I have minimal understanding of meat. Like nada. I picked chicken breasts because someone suggested and it doesn’t have bones, which dogs can’t have cooked.
So what I’m struggling with is:
Which cuts of meat that don’t have bones are the cheapest?
Are there any cuts of meat that have more skin and sinew?
Which meats are cheapest?
How do I go about finding deals?
Is it worth it to buy cheaper meat withy bones and take them out?
Thanks
Edit: look, I’m not feeding my dog raw. The evidence for raw food is thin and patchy, and it’s going up against actual professionals that personally evaluated my dog. Raw feeding is stupid expensive. Stop telling me the frugal option is to buy all meat and feed my dog only raw. It’s not a frugal option at all.
