Print Server’s Printers are Not Showing Up

  • If you’re able to browse the Internet from all computers connected to the router, but network printers are not visible on any of the machines, there may be a connectivity issue between the router and the print server itself. If replacing the Ethernet cable between the router and print server does not fix the problem, then chances are good there is an IP address conflict between the two devices. Open the configuration page for your router in a Web browser, and then verify that the print server appears in the list of connected devices. If the print server does not appear in the list of connected devices on the router configuration page, you may need to change the way the print server receives an IP address. In most cases, routers assign IP addresses to connected devices dynamically. Consequently, if the setup program for the print server assigns a static IP address by default, you may need to change the setting so that it receives its network address dynamically. If you must use a static IP address for the print server, ensure that it is one outside the range of reserved addresses assigned by the router. For instance, if the router uses reserved addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100 for connected devices, you may be able to resolve connection issues by assigning the print server a static IP address of 192.168.0.101 or higher.
