Pokémon Scarlet & Violet contains many returning, as well as new, faces of every type. If you’re looking for an Electric type to add to your team, you will not want for choices. No matter your strategy or team makeup, you’re sure to find the right Pokémon to fit your niche.

Overall, Electric is a very strong type as its only weak to Ground-type attacks. However, many Electric types also have secondary typing that you’ll have to keep in mind when utilizing them in the heat of battle.

Electrode

Best known for exploding when encountered in the wild, Electrode has been around since Gen I and has been a common sight across almost all regions in the games. It even got a regional variant in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

When it comes to base stats, its strength lies in its Speed, which is leaps and bounds ahead of all its others. For offensive stats, its Special Attack is its highest, which works well with its electric typing. Given its high Speed, moves like Electro Ball could be an interesting strategy.

Killowattrel

Introduced in Scarlet & Violet is the Electric/Flying type, Killowattrel. A humongous black and yellow bird, it certainly cuts an intimidating figure in the wilds of Paldea. It has a base Speed of 125 and a base Special Attack of 105 which isn’t a bad combo by any means.

Its immunity to Ground-type attacks is definitely a plus, and since it’s an Electric type itself, you don’t have to worry about Electric-type attacks against it being super effective. However, you do have to worry about Ice and Rock-type attacks, and with how shallow Killowattrel’s move pool is compared to other Electric types, it can make it less viable overall.

Pachirisu

Often dismissed as another Pika-clone, Pachirisu is a surprisingly sturdy and useful Electric type. With a base Speed and Special Defense of 90, it is most useful in competitive Double Battles as a support Pokémon.

It has low Attack stats, but its move pool is quite varied, with access to moves that induce status effect, boost its allies, and redirect aggression. However, if you aren’t a fan of Double Battles, Pachirisu is more for loving than for battling.

Pincurchin

This little baby only has five teeth and gets spooked by seaweed, but it can pack a powerful punch. With a base Attack of 101 and a base Defense of 95, as well as the Lighting Rod ability, Pincurchin has the potential to be a force on your team.

Like Pachirisu, Pincurchin would be best utilized in Double Battles. You have to maximize the time Pincurchin spends on the field in order to make the best use out of its stat-boosting moves. If you’re looking for an interesting strategy to try out, a Pincurchin with a Poison Tera type would be a knock-out combo with its natural move pool.

Luxray

Many might remember Luxray’s pre-evolution Shinx as the most aggressive Pokémon in all of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but it seems that time has mellowed the line. In Paldea, these mono Electric-Types are more curious than hostile which is a nice change of pace in the early game.

Luxray’s base stats are best utilized as a bulky physical attacker, with its high Attack and HP. Its Speed is no good, so you’ll want to make sure it can withstand the hits it will undoubtedly take. Its Hidden Ability, Guts, can help turn this weakness into a strength, however, and turn the tide of battle.

Pawmot

The most recent of the electric rodents is Pawmot, a dual Fighting and Electric type. It has a base Attack of 115 and a base Speed is 105, which means it can hit hard and fast. It’s hidden ability is Iron Fist, which powers up its punching attacks, so you can get quite a wallop out of teaching it Thunder Punch.

It’s got a hefty set of moves it can learn, both naturally and by TM, so you have plenty of room for unique strategies that play to its strengths. Unfortunately, since it has the Fighting type, it comes pre-packaged with weaknesses to Fairy types and Psychic types.

Raichu

An old favorite from Gen I is Raichu. Unless it evolves in Alola, Raich is Electric type through and through and boasts a base 110 for Speed, while both Attack and Special Attack have a base of 90. You really can’t go wrong with Raichu — it’s a classic for a reason.

It’s got some great moves it learns naturally, as Iron Tail and Thunder, as well TM moves like Thunderbolt and Electro Ball. The only downside with Raichu is its lack of type coverage, so you have to really double down on what it does well, which can make or break a competitive fight.

Bellibolt

No matter which eyes you’re looking at, It’s got a sweet, squishy face. Bellibolt is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in the Scarlet & Violet games, with a 109 base HP stat and a base Special Attack that follows close behind at 103. Its defensive stats aren’t too shabby, either.

Its ability, Electromorphosis, powers up its Special Attacks after it’s hit by Electric-type moves, which can definitely be a boost in the heat of battle. It’s got good type coverage for a mono Electric type, and, since it’s built to be a tank, you can usually afford to skip out on the STAB benefits.

Jolteon

One of the best Eeveelutions, Jolteon has been around since the original Pokémon games and has appeared in every game in the franchise to some degree. Its base Speed is 130, and it has a base Special Attack 110, making it one of the snipers of the Electric types.

It can’t take much of a hit, unfortunately, so you’ll want to pair it with a good team defender or teach it Volt Switch to maximize its damage while keeping it away from harm. If you’re able to work with its low defenses though, Jolteon has a wide and powerful pool of Special Attacks to choose from, so it is definitely a Pokémon you want on your side.

Toxtricity

This punk rock Poison/Electric type was first introduced to us in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Most of Toxtricity’s stats are around 70, with its highest base stat being Special Attack at 114 — very good for its type combination.

It has good type coverage, and its natural moves are well-themed. Unfortunately, the Poison typing in addition to being Electric type makes it extra weak to Ground-type attacks, so you’ll need a clever strategy to avoid getting knocked-out before you can get a hit in.

Eelektross

While it is not the coolest looking or most beautiful Pokémon in the Pokedex, Eelektross has its own unique charm. It takes a long time to raise, however, and its pre-evolutions are relatively fragile.

If you’re willing to put in the time though, you’ll be rewarded with a versatile attacker, with its high Attack and Special Attack stats, with immunity to Electric-Types’ one weakness thanks to its ability Levitate.

Rotom

While its base form is Electric/Ghost-Type, Rotom is one of the most versatile Electric-Types in the Pokedex as it’s able to change its form (if you have the Rotom Catalog) and its secondary typing between five different options.

Each form comes with its own strengths and weaknesses, and your team makeup will determine which will be most beneficial to you. Regardless of form, Rotom is one of the few Electric-Types with immunity to Ground-Type attacks, thanks to its Levitate ability.

Ampharos

Starting as an adorable Mareep, Ampharos is both adorable and cool. Aside from its Mega Evolution, where it gains the Dragon type, Ampharos is a mono Electric type. It has a base Special Attack of 115, and its Special Defense and HP are both at a base of 90.

Even without access to its Mega Evolution in the most recent generations, Ampharos can learn high-powered Dragon-type moves in addition to Electric type. It also has access to good support moves. The only thing you need to worry about is Ampharos’ Speed stat, which is easy enough to work with.

Sandy Shocks

The ancient ancestor of the Magnemite line, Sandy Shocks is a paradox Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. It’s Ground/Electric type which makes it a great counter against other Electric types. It doesn’t have a base stat below 80, and it has a Special Attack base of 121.

With the added Ground typing, it gains weaknesses to Water, Grass, and Ice. However, it is well-equipped to handle these new threats. With its high base stats and its powerful and broad move pool, it is certainly a powerful ally.

Iron Hands

If you’ve done any amount of high-level Tera Raids online, you’ll no doubt already know how powerful Iron Hands can be. Utilizing its Quark Drive ability with the Booster Energy held item, and by using the move Belly Drum, Iron Hands can quickly overwhelm many an opponent.

With a high Attack stat and an even higher HP, Iron Hands is the perfect candidate for a physical sweeper. While it is not lacking for high-power Fighting and Electric-Type moves that match its typing, it doesn’t want for type coverage moves as well.
