from Microsoft Corporation

What is Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007?

Office Enterprise 2007 is a version of Microsoft Office, a family of office suites and productivity software for Windows also named Office 12. It introduced a new graphical user interface called the Fluent User Interface which uses ribbons and an office start menu instead of menu bars and toolbars. The enterprise version includes the following addition componets such as Communicator, Groove (Groove Server 2007 is for centrally managing all deployments of Microsoft Office Groove 2007 in the enterprise. It enables using Active Directory for Groove user accounts, and create Groove Domains, with individual policy settings.), OneNote, and Office Customization Tool (Office Customization Tool is used to customize the installation of Office 2007 by creating a Windows Installer patch file).

Overview

The most common release is 12.0.6612.1000, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. During setup, the program creates a startup registration point in Windows in order to automatically start when any user boots the PC. Upon being installed, the software adds a Windows Service which is designed to run continuously in the background. Manually stopping the service has been seen to cause the program to stop functing properly. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with. The primary executable is named SaveAsPDFandXPS.exe. The setup package generally installs about 74 files and is usually about 253.75 MB (266,074,953 bytes).
