The Mario Badescu Silver Powder Face Mask is an oil absorbent powder that works by drying out the pores that are congested and full of oil – helping you to remove stubborn blackheads and keeping them from returning by reducing the oil on the surface of your skin. The claims are that the silver powder can actually remove your most stubborn blackheads and the powder certainly gets some rave reviews on the internet.

Our testers found it wasn’t enough on it’s own to remove stubborn blackheads whatever Mario Badescu claim about their Silver Powder. But, it was fantastic at drying these out and making them easy to remove afterwards using a comedone extractor or blackhead removal nose strips. You do need to get the consistency right, though, and that takes a little patience. Our testers found it can be applied using damp cotton wool making sure that the powder is made wet, but not too wet. Too wet and it slides off your face and too dry and it doesn’t work. Some used the lid to mix up some powder and water, and then rinsed it afterwards before closing the tub.

It does dry your skin – a lot – so you will need to use a god moisturiser after you’ve washed it off. Best to use one that isn’t oily otherwise you’ll just be blocking those pores up again with too much oil.
