Having used to live in a colonial house, we chose Villa Samadhi for the history and away from the busy life. We initially booked the crib room but upon arrival, I requested to have a look at all the other rooms available. The front lady, Priya, was very accommodative and I upgraded to Sarang and Rustic Bath on d next night. The breakfast and the staff of Tamarind Hills are great. Breakfast was good. Staffs were attentive. We didnt expect 100% perfection. But the service and ambience for us masks all the imperfections. We have read some of the reviews. Do expect to walk up the stairs, walk uphills, estimated less than a km walk towards the train station, a few hundreds mtr away from the park itself. We didnt mind that, our early mornings were occupied with morning runs, walk through history and then breakfast. And yes some rooms do not have windows, didnt mind at all as we have lived in this type of smaller colonial, the original design itself is a bit awkward if you are not used to it. And kudos to the designers that made it look much better. Sarah was the front desk during day time, my husband’s luggage was a little heavy and she really tried helping to carry it up the 2nd floor but we stopped her and when she insisted we just gave her our smaller bags. You have to love history, nature, walks and privacy and take a step back from a fast paced life and enjoy your stay. Explore the area not just within labrador itself, you will find more of similar buildings and hidden parks, the history of this building and Tamarind hills. Its significance in the 1880s and WW2. Thank you all from the front desk to the ”uncle” and restaurant staff for making our stay a memorable one. Definitely will return, maybe this time with lighter luggage.
