One of the main goals of this website is to help up and coming music producers build a home recording/music studio on a budget. Because of this, I thought it would be fun to create my very own budget music studio that offers excellent quality at some of the cheapest prices possible.
Here is a great Home Recording Studio under 300 – A quality budget setup

Your Personal Preference
Remember that this is just my personal preference and what works for me. You may need different equipment depending on your goals as a producer/artist. If you plan on doing lots of vocal work, you should probably invest in a better mic.
If you plan on having other artists in the studio, then getting studio monitors instead of headphones would be a better option. But for me, I do a lot of beats/tracks that only require a basic setup.
Let’s jump into what I use.
Headphones – Behringer HPS3000
Although these come in at under $20, I am very impressed with the quality. You can tell they are a little bit cheaper quality due to the plastics, but the actual earpieces are quite comfortable.
They sound awesome with excellent highs, lows, and midrange. Overall a great choice on a super low budget.
Headphones are also a great option if you live somewhere and you don’t have a lot of privacy.

Audio Interface – Behringer UM2 U-Phoria
Next on my budget setup is the Audio Interface. The audio interface is important because it acts as a hub between all of your devices. It also takes some of the stress off of your PC which helps the quality of your recordings immensely. When I started music production several years ago, I didn’t have the fastest PC or an audio interface.
When I would record, The PC would freeze and I would get pops and clicks on my recordings. Once I implemented an Audio interface, my recordings sounded much better.
And For the less than $50 price range, it can fit into most budgets.

Microphone – Samson Go Mic
Like I stated earlier, I don’t record vocals very often. But when I do need it, The Samson Go USB mic does the trick. For less than $30, it also fits into most budgets.
If you do need a better mic, check out my other article on the best mics under $50.
If you’re like me and don’t do a lot of vocals, feel free to skip this piece of equipment. If you feel this would be a good option, you can check Current prices on Amazon here
Midi Keyboard – M-Audio Keystation 49
I have been using this midi keyboard for the past 8 years and it has worked flawlessly the entire time. The model I currently use is the older silver version, but this newer version in black is basically the exact same keyboard.
I think the 49 key is also the perfect amount of keys for a smaller studio.
Remember as a music producer, you will be able to utilize almost every instrument through your Digital Audio Workstation.
Having a solid midi keyboard has been crucial to my success in the studio and the M-Audio Keystation is a big part of that.

DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) – Reaper
Currently, Reaper’s license is listed at $60 USD. You can use the software on a trial basis for 60 days. The software will still work after 60 days, but you really should pay for it.
These developers put a lot of time and money into developing this software and it shows. Reaper is one of the best fully functional and customizable Digital Audio Workstations I have ever used.
It is not as popular as some of options, but I believe it is highly underrated. Please support them by paying the $60 price of entry here
