Many will opt for a forward with experience, yet a reliable option could be brought in as a young prospect at a lower price.

For FIFA 20 Career Mode, finding a young centre forward or striker with a high potential can be very rewarding in the long term.

The top-five low cost, high potential strikers in FIFA 20 feature below. A list of all of the other potential options are listed at the foot of the article.

Choosing FIFA 20 Career Mode’s best cheap high potential strikers (ST & CF)

The most important metric when considering the best high potential young striker in FIFA 20 Career Mode is the potential overall rating.

Those that feature in the body of the article have the highest potential rating. The others listed in the table at the foot of the piece have a rating of at least 83 POT. The strikers included have a release clause of £5 million or less.

We have excluded players who are currently on-loan at other clubs. The likes of Patrick Cutrone (Fiorentina), Luis Suárez (Real Zaragoza) and Patrik Schick (RB Leipzig) won’t be featured.

Sebastiano Esposito (OVR 67 – POT 87)

FIFA 20 career mode best cheap high potential striker Sebastiano Esposito (OVR 67 – POT 87)FIFA 20 career mode best cheap high potential striker Sebastiano Esposito (OVR 67 – POT 87)

Team: Inter Milan
Best Position: ST
Age: 16
Overall/Potential: 67 OVR / 87 POT
Value (Release Clause): £1.4 million (£3.6 million)
Wage: £3.4K per week
Best Attributes: 75 Curve, 74 Free-Kick Accuracy, 73 Acceleration

Sebastiano Esposito has the highest ceiling in this category. The Italian has burst onto the scene as one of the more exciting prospects to come out of the Inter Milan academy.

The Italian broke into the first-team this season making his debut as a substitute in the 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund. In his first start, Esposito scored his first Serie A goal in the 4-0 win over lowly Genoa.

Esposito is quite an exciting option for FIFA 20: a striker that is dangerous from a dead-ball situation. He is quick off of the mark, making him deadly when playing through balls in behind the defence.

The 16-year-old is an interesting option to buy for your FIFA 20 Career Mode. He’s arguably the purest striker on the list and is someone who would fit well in a system playing one striker.

Rabbi Matondo (OVR 68 – POT 86)

FIFA 20 career mode best cheap high potential striker Rabbi Matondo (OVR 68 – POT 86)FIFA 20 career mode best cheap high potential striker Rabbi Matondo (OVR 68 – POT 86)

Team: FC Schalke 04
Best Position: LM/RM/ST
Age: 18
Overall/Potential: 68 OVR / 86 POT
Value (Release Clause): £1.6 million (£3.8 million)
Wage: £3.6K per week
Best Attributes: 93 Acceleration, 90 Sprint Speed, 79 Agility

Rabbi Matondo might be the most well known in our top five, and for a good reason. Much like Jadon Sancho, Matondo ditched the Manchester City youth system in favour of a fresh start in Germany.

The Welshman has slowly acclimatised himself to the rigours of the Bundesliga.

Since joining Schalke in the winter of 2019, Matondo has made 21 appearances for Die Knappen, managing just the one goal.

Matondo is someone whose characteristics are near perfect for FIFA: 93 acceleration and 90 sprint speed makes him a handful for defences. Despite being quite small for a striker at 5’9’’, Matondo has a surprisingly good jumping rating of 71.

Buying Matondo will cost you £3.8 million, and the rewards of bringing him in are very positive. Ideally, Matondo would be best used in a system featuring another striker. A target man is recommended.

Karim Adeyemi (OVR 67 – POT 85)

FIFA 20 career mode best cheap high potential striker Karim Adeyemi (OVR 67 – POT 85)FIFA 20 career mode best cheap high potential striker Karim Adeyemi (OVR 67 – POT 85)

Team: FC Red Bull Salzburg
Best Position: LW/RW/ST
Age: 17
Overall/Potential: 67 OVR / 85 POT
Value (Release Clause): £1.4 million (£2.9 million)
Wage: £2.2K per week
Best Attributes: 89 Acceleration, 86 Agility, 85 Sprint Speed

Another option if you wish for a player with similar traits to Matondo, but at a slightly cheaper price tag, the best choice would be Red Bull Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi.

The 17-year-old German wasn’t heavily sought after at junior level, spending just one season with his home town club Bayern Munich before spending six seasons at SpVgg Unterhaching.

The move to Salzburg came in 2018, which was shortly followed by Adeyemi being sent on loan to sister club FC Liefering. In Austria’s second tier, 2 Liga, Adeyemi managed an impressive six goals and four assists in 20 league appearances.

Adeyemi has similar characteristics to Matondo, boasting strong acceleration (89) and sprint speed (85), which holds the German as an excellent development option.

Adeyemi is competent on the ball with 75 dribbling and 73 ball control. Buying the German would be beneficial for teams playing a two striker system, or a team that plays on the counter-attack.

Troy Parrott (OVR 64 – POT 85)

FIFA 20 career mode best cheap high potential striker Troy Parrott (OVR 64 – POT 85)FIFA 20 career mode best cheap high potential striker Troy Parrott (OVR 64 – POT 85)

Team: Tottenham Hotspur
Best Position: ST
Age: 17
Overall/Potential: 64 OVR / 85 POT
Value (Release Clause): £900,000 (£2.6 million)
Wage: £3.1K per week
Best Attributes: 77 Acceleration, 75 Sprint Speed, 72 Agility

Troy Parrott might be an enigma to Jose Mourinho, as shown by the Tottenham Hotspur manager’s unwillingness to play the Irishman when the team didn’t have another recognised striker available.

The one-time Republic of Ireland international has been useful for Spurs in Premier League 2 and their UEFA Youth League campaign. In the latter, Parrott has six goals and an assist in just four appearances this season.

Parrott has respectable statistics with his best being his acceleration (77) and sprint speed (75). However, Parrott is one of the best on this list when it comes to finishing, with a rating of 69. However, Parrott isn’t particularly strong on the ball, though, with 60 short passing and 50 long passing.

The Irishman is perfect for anyone playing with teams in the EFL Championship, or League One if the budget permits. Parrott is an exciting prospect who can the lead the line, either a lone striker or with assistance.

Ahmed Kutucu (OVR 68 – POT 85)

FIFA 20 career mode best cheap high potential striker Ahmed Kutucu (OVR 68 – POT 85)FIFA 20 career mode best cheap high potential striker Ahmed Kutucu (OVR 68 – POT 85)

Team: FC Schalke 04
Best Position: RW/CF/ST
Age: 19
Overall/Potential: 68 OVR / 85 POT
Value (Release Clause): £1.7 million (£4 million)
Wage: £6.7K per week
Best Attributes: 79 Acceleration, 79 Spring Speed, 78 Shot Power

Our second Schalke representative on the list is Gelsenkirchen-born Ahmed Kutucu. The new Turkish international has been with Schalke since 2011, where he has proven to be an exciting prospect at Die Knappen.

Kutucu is now featured in the Schalke squad regularly and has contributed with three goals and two assists in his first fully-fledged Bundesliga campaign.

In our top five, Kutucu is tied for the best starting point in terms of overall rating, sitting at 68 OVR – level with Matondo. He has similar attributes to Spurs’ Parrot, but he does boast superior shot power (78) and aggression (73).

Kutucu is the priciest option here; the £4 million release clause may sway some players from buying the talented 19-year old striker.
