Cartoon Network HD
Cartoon Network HD is the network’s high definition feed, it was launched in the United States on October 15, 2007 and is carried on most cable and satellite providers.
Process
Like most Turner networks at the time, it stretched traditional 4:3 content to 16:9.
The first HD content airing on the network was content airing as a part of You Are Here, starting in October 2008, Nevertheless, regular airings of shows were still presented stretched until March 2010. More HD shows followed suit throughout 2009. Beginning in November 2009, HD commercials begin to be presented, while others remain stretched. Starting in March 2010, newer shows, seasons, and episodes were presented letterboxed in the SD feed instead of being cropped. Around this time, the network began producing fully HD promos at the time.
Noods branding elements were not optimized for the HD feed and were stretched, but with the CHECK it rebrand on May 2010, all branding elements were optimized for the HD feed.
Initially, all screenbugs and banners were stretched on the HD feed, including the HD screenbugs, but with the general screen bug being updated in June 2009, it was fully optimized for HD, while others remain stretched. The HD lower-third used beginning in November 2009 was still present on the HD feed for SD shows that were stretched. A few shows from 2010 used an optimized version of the CC rating bug. With the rebrand on May 2010, all screenbugs and banners were optimized for the HD feed, even showing up in SD programming that is stretched, and the lower-third is no longer present on the HD feed.
History
On October 15, 2007, Cartoon Network HD launched in the USA.
It originally used TNT’s Flex-View stretching method, before using the regular stretch in 2008/2009.
In 2008, Star Wars: The Clone Wars premeired, which was the first show to air in HD.
In October 2008, they started using the CC bug that would be used on the SD feed in 2009.
In 2010, more HD captures started popping up.
On February 23, 2015, Cartoon Network HD was released on Chile by VTR GLOBALCOM S.A Chile.
As of July 28, 2015, for Europe and Ireland, HD bug are removed for this network and the high definition feed is downscaled by the provider for the standard definition feed, resulting in all programming appearing in a 16:9 ratio with letterboxing. Unlike the other Turner networks in Europe, United Kingdom, Ireland, standard definition advertising is also stretched into 16:9 mode.

In 2017, a new HD bug was used for the United Kingdom.
On November 1, 2021, Cartoon Network HD updated its new logo for the US with new CMYK colors and The “HD” text changing to green during Redraw Your World Era
