Business Management Major

Why Choose

a

Management Major

at Salisbury University

?

At SU, experiential learning on real business management projects is emphasized, and you may work with organizations in the community to practice what you learned in the classroom. In our program, you’ll learn to set goals, formulate strategies, motivate people and monitor performance. With a diverse selection of electives within our Franklin P. Perdue School of Business, you can focus on entrepreneurship and small business administration, production/operations or even pursue a specialized track in human resource management.

What’s more, at SU, you can graduate with not just a management degree, but your very own business. SU is home to one of the oldest student entrepreneurship competitions in the country, and the University has a history of helping students implement their business plans and make their dreams a reality. The Management Department conducts competitions each year, and thousands of dollars in prizes are available to students who demonstrate their superior business administration skills.

SU students can also participate in business management and leadership simulations, and all students have the option of a variety of study abroad programs. In their senior year, management students fulfill the Applied Business Learning Experience (ABLE) requirement, which can be met with an internship. Internships are normally completed off campus at a variety of business, government or nonprofit organizations, giving students real-world experience to prepare them for jobs upon graduation.

The major also offers a track in human resource management. As organizations have increasingly realized the impact that the human resources (HR) function can have on the bottom line, HR has become an essential and growing field within organizations. Accordingly, the HR profession is projected by the Department of Labor to continue to grow, making this an appealing option for business administration students at SU.
