Best Budget (Cheap) Mattress (February 2023) | Sleep Advisor

In addition to the price of the mattress itself, there are often costs associated with getting it to your home—or returning it, if it doesn’t turn out to be the right bed for you. Investigate all of these terms as you shop so you aren’t surprised by new charges after you’ve ordered your budget mattress.

Shipping: Most online mattress companies will ship their beds for free within the contiguous United States. Others might charge for shipping, and those dollars can tack a substantial fee onto the initially affordable price point. If you live in Hawaii, Alaska, or Canada, make sure to double-check the company’s shipping policies.

Warranties: A mattress’s warranty is the window of time in which the company will cover the cost of defects or damage. It may entitle you to a full replacement of your mattress, depending on the circumstances. Five-, ten-, and fifteen-year warranties are commonplace for affordable mattresses, whereas longer warranties may be correlated with higher-priced beds.

Returns: When you’re looking at budget mattresses, always read over the return policy. You don’t want to end up with a cheap, low-quality bed that you can’t even send back. A decent return policy will give you a trial period during which you test out the mattress. If you decide not to commit, you should be able to return the mattress to the seller for free or at a minimal cost.

Most companies will issue you a full refund if you return the bed during the trial period, though they may subtract a portion of the refund for shipping and/or processing costs.
