Best board ever!!! I’ve had mine over 2 years I’ve got 1600 miles on my board and it cruises as good as the day I got it. I had a front bearing go out that has been the ONLY problem other that having to change tires. Great board coming from a real person

ROB B.

I bought an ERA II back in January and had so much fun I bought the Ranger X3. I enjoy both boards for different reasons – how they carve and turn. I live near the beach, but this makes me stress less on days I want to get to the water and can’t, which is more often than I like. I love the hub drives because I have a lot of hobbies and don’t want to be playing “maintenance man” any more than I have to. I want fun time not a tinker toy. Maybe I’ll even be led to buy a belt drive because of this experience. Customer service has been great with quick answers. A little language barrier, but nothing big so far. As long as they can help me make the maintenance easy to keep these boards on the road without losing hours of my time, I will continue to be happy. I already have had numerous people who have become interested because of how I told them I feel so far and when they watch me use these boards. Even people on the hallowed One Wheels are impressed and interested.

Dylan L.

This board is a beast the flexible deck feels great on rough terrain and acts as an amazing suspension system being able to ride on more terrain than concrete makes me so happy also in love with the hub motors I love nor having to worry about dirt or sand getting stuck in the motors

Jonathan M.

I’m new to this skateboard life. But let me tell you this Ranger board is very sturdy and the acceleration wheel is very intuitive and smooth. I love the power this board has to climb hills and I’m in the Bronx which has its fair share of hills. Def recommend this board.

Diane K.

Ordered first one fir my grandson a freshman in college. He LOVES it for sure … even skateboarded to my home from his when he was on Christmas break. Only issue was his 58 year old father liked it more than he did and so last Thursday his dad got his for his birthday. Thank you will recommended often.

Cory R.

This board, aesthetically it’s the best looking board out there! Performance 10 out of 10, it even has reverse.

Ernie V.

Super fun Eskate board. Love everything about it except wish the tires were 7″ or even 8″
& had a more “aggressive, knobby, off-the-road” tread for better dirt/trail traction.
Good job Backfire. Time will tell if their “customer service” is good. Better be top notch
’cause other than the quality of the board that’s everyones concern.

Good Luck Backfire !

Kevin B.

This board is AWESOMENESS! I have been on a skateboard and longboard since the late 80s but this is my first electric board so I’m very thankful for the reviews that helped me pick this board. I didn’t shop around I just felt confident that this board would meet me at my level and challenge me, and I does. I love that I can take it on a trail or just on the road and it has plenty of power and speed. With the 3 modes I recommend this board for any level of rider. But the best part…it’s just a beautiful board.

Jose M T.

This board is the best purchase I’ve made in a while. I’d consider myself more of a beginner and I had no problem cruising at 13mph until you get used to the boards sport mode which turns it into a different monster. I use it as a daily commuter, remote was super easy to use ready to go in minutes. If you’re on the fence just do it you won’t regret it

Got the x1 and I couldn’t resist to get this bad boy, the x3! Powerful, charges faster, breaks are strong. The fenders do their job, but on the back they catch on anything if you carry it by the front trucks. The lights it comes with are great, enough to bee seen and see on the road. If you ride at night I would suggest you get a tail light, the one in the enclosure is enough to be seen at 5-10 meters.
My first experience with it going up the mountain on a dirt road, 4 km distance 600m elevation, got back with 25% battery to spare.

Brandon C.

Im not usually one to write reviews, however I find myself so impressed with this purchase that I had to share.
The Ranger was a replacement for a different-brand board that has since fallen apart. It was a good mid-range starter board from a competitor, but ended up not meeting my needs. After some research looking for something that would solve all the problems of my last ride, I ended up here.
After upgrading to the Ranger X3, the parts of my ride that used to make me nervous about whether the board could handle it are long gone. The first time I took it out, I pushed it to the limit and the experience blew away all my old limitations (ie: less than favorable pavement conditions, uneven bumps, gravel, etc.) This product is built extremely well, and although it has a larger price tag, it’s a premium product and meets all my needs. This thing shreds.

Mike F.

Did a ton of research and picked the x3 for a few key reasons. I wanted good range. I wanted high end hill climbing ability. I wanted a quiet smooth ride (hub motors). I wanted something that would deal with all kinds of pavement and sometimes gravel.

The x3 really delivers on all my requirements. It’s an incredibly fun board to ride. I think it’s got a real carving sweet spot around 15mph. I much more value the ability to surf over anything and up any hill than the raw speed some others may better deliver.

I love this board so much I just bought an x2 so my 10 year old (in video) and 22 year old daughter can take long rides with me. It’s such a quiet and zen way to explore, but you also have legit power when you feel like airing it out. This thing has brought me legit joy. We will see on durability… I’m 250km in so it’s really early. That being said I have thoroughly tested the board and it’s everything I have hoped for. Thanks Backfire

Jonavan S.

Absolutely amazing customer service! Quick shipping…. and this thing riiiipppps!!! Definitely tighten the trucks before riding, but I bring my board everywhere with me looking for an excuse to use it!

Anthony L.

this is a very scary board to ride, use the helmet. other than that, it’s an amazing board. well worth it. i just with it came with better instructions for the accessories and had the option for more accessories.

Terrance J.

Rips through the rough roads, uneven sidewalks, and single track in Phoenix and Scottsdale with ease.

Only adjustment out of box was to tighten the trucks half a turn each to prevent wobble past 15mph. For the v4, would love to see another 5mi of range and slightly stiffer deck. Otherwise, nearly perfect.

Mitchell E.

The board has been great, it’s a nice smooth ride. Though since pulling it out of the box the grip tape has been peeling off. When I contacted them they told me I could buy new grip tape if heating up the tape didn’t work (which it didn’t) to re-adhere it. I just think spending that much money, things should be done right and I shouldn’t have to pay more to fix their assembly mistake. That’s the only reason I didn’t rate this review higher.

Roger C.

Love the off-road no need to worry about tiny rocks stopping you. Just an awesome board hope you give me awesome deals and discounts in the near future specially when battery wares out. 5 star love it

Austin G.

I love it this board is amazing I use it for my daily commute to work and it’s about .7 of a mile I’ve had this board for only a week and I’ve already put 102 miles on the board

Cody W.

Soooo fun, have put 20+ miles on in the 3 days I’ve had it. Even talked the neighbor into getting one (didn’t take much) lol.

Taylor S.

This Ranger x3 is just awesome! I’ve only ridden it about 20 miles today, and it still has charge! I rode it off road through grass and on pavement. The remote is very comfortable and easy to use. The board is FAST.

A few notes: My grip tape was not very secure when it arrived. I’ve been trying to press it on every day, but it still comes a bit loose. My bushings are black, not red like in the photos (I’ll contact support to make sure they are the same spec). And I just learned with such an awesome battery, I will probably not be allowed to take it on any flights… Looks like I’ll also have to buy a smaller one 😉

Steven Z.

Im a huge Backfire fan, originally buying the G2 Black and then moving up to the Rnager X3 for off roading travel.
This board is everything I was hoping for, the flex is amazing, the height above the road is perfect, the ride itself is always so smooth.
Plus Backfire Customer Service is Grade A bruh.
Only problem I have with the board is having to replace front trucks because their standard trucks tend to snap, on any board, not just the Ranger or G2.
Ive had to replace front trucks on both, but Im not too worried because the front end takes the brunt of damage while riding and I tend to run fast and hard.

John C.

Love the board I’m 64 years old it’s been a long time since I’d ridden a skateboard. I bought a second board so my son in law and grandson could ride with me. I have 227 miles on one board and 97 on the newer board. I am 6’3” tall 210 lbs I mostly ride on trails paved and unpaved, 13 miles is the farthest I’ve gone on a charge, hilly trail paved. Love the boards!

David A.

It’s an awesome board, highly recommend! Handles well off-road, battery life is alright, thought it would compare to the first gen onewheel yet the one wheel lasted longer (not by far tho). Lights on the backfire are very bright. It will get up and go in turbo mode but I mostly stay away from the turbo. Lots of looks while riding around the the city! All in all great board

Ccv c V.

Ful ask alot

Nicholas P.

Love it it’s great battery last long and it’s very reliable I’m so glad that I bought it

John P.

I Love this board.
The ability to carve turns uphill or down at just the right speeds is a game changer for skateboarding. I’m turning 60 and when I saw this board I said I have to have it. The wheels are perfect for off and on road cruising, and the batteries seems good. I live in the foothills of Pasadena and know I board all around it sometimes once a day just to get up from my desk.
Thanks for a great E Board!

Aaron B.

This board is totally legit! I’m 44 weighing about 210 and it screams with me on it. Can’t wait to take it on the trails.

DJ D.

I’ve put 1590 km on this board and have had no issues. Handles well on all types of terrain and its water resistance is great. The mudflaps help a lot when dealing with wet terrain.

At my current mileage (987 miles) I’m about due for tires and grip tape. Everything else is just fine. Up to this point I have had not needed to replace anything.

This board is excellent for beginners, and even larger boarders. All around this is a board you’re gonna want.

Next level for me will be more speed but you can definitely feel the power this board has. Most one wheel setups cannot keep up with the X3, making it the superior EToy on the path/road. And that goes along with its maneuverability.

Joseph J.

This board is way bigger than I expected, and I love it! I can’t ride it much yet as we are still getting lots of snow here in Minnesota, but I can say without a doubt that this is going to be my new favorite electric board!

Luke M.

Love the board, but wish it had a pneumatic tire option. The tires are stiff and lose traction. Pneumatic tires would offer more stability.

Sebastian H.

Great longboard !!

Aurum B.

I love the Ranger X3 by backfire. Handles beautifully, the light attachments for foggy, dusty, snowy, or the dark work wonderfully. The range and speed I have tested match with the range stated on the website. I have already put 30+ miles on it. The only thing I foresee becoming a real problem is the grip tape. It started coming off the board right out of the box, if there is a replacement or other option I would definitely recommend getting it and replacing it from the get go. Everything else is completely up to spec. I recognize not everything can be perfect, so that is why I still rate this 5 stars. The smooth ride I get over any bumpy back roads and terrain cannot be matched by any other hub motor board, this board is in a class of its own.

Jason A.

So far so good, this board is awesome.

Edwin Z.

I really love my Ranger X3. It is my first electric skateboard and I like it a lot. It is very quiet and smooth and very fast too with lots of power. The big wheels are awesome and the deck design is fantastic and so flexible. Carving with this board is so fun!!
I’m very happy with this board.

Gary K.

I use it to run my dog every day. Couple of things I would like is wider tires for softer terrain and a option to have miles in stead of Km

Kiet N.

I’m just here because I want to know how long battery last or how many miles range? Also how fast this thing go. But nothing mention about it. So not buying and not wasting money on something that don’t have details on speed and battery life.

Daniel H.

Awesome acceleration, good uphill performance. Crazy, insane torque in turbo mode.

Michael S.

Absolutely love this board cannot be more satisfied with the quality and the price you pay for this board is well worth it I have been waiting two years and I finally pulled the trigger on my new Ranger X3.Super Trick how they have the different power settings!!!even had a friend come over and he ordered one on the spot after ripping it through the parkway.I Will be ordering my wife one as well. Huge shout out to you guys over at backfire you guys have this board dialed

Darrell D.

This board has really helped me get around Denver! Love the responsiveness of the board and remote. Only negative thing I have is I was sent a bad headlight (button doesn’t work). All in all, a great product!

Jonatan G.

2 of my friends got the ranger x2
I bought the x3 and they going faster than me! Is this normal?

Jedidiah A.

I wish it were more stable, but the price to pap for double kingpin trucks.

Morgan G.

Has been an unreal experience. Ultra quiet, fast pickup. Decent range. Carves very fun. Its ideal as a commuter street board and gravel, I have found some very fun trails as long as they’re packed down enough. I got caught in a rainstorm and had it through some mud; I avoided puddles and waited under a tree while it was raining hard. It cleaned up excellent and had no issues. A compressor blow off and dry lubricant spray wiped down seems to be keeping it clean. I live near the beach so I hope I can get years of life without corrosion.

Dwight R.

After not riding a skateboard board since 1977 when I used to ride daily I decided I would like to jump back on one at age 65. I did a lot of researching and reviewing and went for the Ranger X3 and couldn’t be happier. This is a awesome board. I have even ridden it down dirt and gravel trails and it handles them well. So if your looking for a eskatboard look no further the Backfire Ranger X3 is the right choice.

Bob B.

I got this so I can ride wherever I go. It’s really great at the park. The teenagers love it too. I’m 220lbs and i change it to sport mode. It really goes if you not careful. I chose this because of the USA locations. I don’t want something cheap and need to send it to China. Also I felt the in hub power looks better than a belt driven one.

Luiz B.

Extremely happy with my purchase. Every single email and phone call was answered in a timely manner. Board was supposed to arrive in 45 days but for my surprise it was at my house in 2 weeks somehow. The manual could use more detailed info about installing lights and mud guards but other than that Iam very happy with my board.

Michael M.

Got my X3 just before my 56th birthday. Wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to pick it up, but it was no problem. I’m super happy skating around the neighborhood through the fall leaves. Snow? We’ll see.

BTW the headlights and hubs are a super nice upgrade!! Thanks.

Doug D.

I am 54 and haven’t ridden since I was way younger.
The board is super smooth and fast enough for me.
I love the bigger wheels which allows me to relax from hitting ruts or rocks on the road.
Haven’t had it long enough to comment on the distance.
Thanks Backfire as this was a big jump from my other board.

The G.

This was my first E board, so I took a couple years watching videos and doing research Before I convince myself it was worth getting. The X.3 accelerates so smooth, it’s so quiet, and I absolutely love it! Even with never ridden an E board before, the first time I hopped on it I used sport mode and within one or two minutes I felt comfortable on the board. Wish I’d bought it immediately instead of waiting two years to pull the trigger!

Jason K.

This board is SOLID! I love the way it carves. It feels so effortless to carve in this board. Lots of power too. Takes long hills really well. I thought without the pneumatic tires it would be a bit rough but nope, it was super smooth on and off road. I like the hub concept since there’s so much less to worry about. The
Flex deck is NICE! Nothing bad to say about this board. Range, speed and power were great. I love how I can go offroad too.

Matthew F.

I am really loving the smoothness of the ride on this board. I am using it for all my errands around town and turning lots of heads =)

Michael B.

I am really enjoying my Backfire Ranger X3. A quiet ride experience was critical for me when picking out a new board. I ride on paved trails in the woods very often and loud boards scare away the wildlife before I can get close enough to see them up close. The X3 is extremely quiet. Last night I got to within 10feet of a beautiful red fox before it saw me.
Hub motors are said to not have as much torque as belt-driven motors but the X3 has more than enough torque to get my 190lb body up every hill in my area including some pretty steep ones.

FWIW, I installed a Waterborne surf adaptor with the e-skate extension bracket to see how it feels. It does carve slightly better but the front wheels bite on the tightest turns so I took off the whole surf adaptor kit.
OVERALL SCORE: 10/10. Would buy again.

Brett T.

I just unboxed the new Ranger X3 that just arrived in US port today! This guy is awesome. It’s a little larger and heavier than my backfire G3 but I love the ground clearance and the off-road tires. My one complaint about the G3 is it doesn’t like off-road conditions. This guy can handle almost anything. ( would have loved for the X3 to have effect lights like the G3 but that’s the only negative I can come up with)

Alex C.

The most fun I’ve had on any board ever. I’ve skated for 20+ years, snowboard, surf, all of it. The x3 off road or on concrete is way too fun. Extremely hard to ride in dirt, a welcome challenge. So fun once you learn to drift 180 and how to get along without an “edge” so fun. I took someone’s advice from previous review and ordered bushing set from riptide, excellent choice, makes carving even better. Super tight turns on this giant board. Order now cause shipping is 30 days or more. So expensive, but so worth it. Love it. Stock piling spar parts as well.

Gorge t.

So on June 23rd I decided to pull the trigger on the ranger X3 and was prepared to wait 30 to 35 days sea shipment. Well on the 24th backfire messaged me and said there might be a cancellation in Virginia. I told him great let me know. They messaged me back and said I could receive my board within a week. Lo and behold I received it on June 29th. Greatest customer service ever experienced and the product is just as great thank you backfire!!

Andrew N.

The ranger x3 has so much power! Uphill performance is great and I personally love the flex deck. This is my first eskate. Previously rode a bamboo longboard.

Gabriel A.

Finally my X3 ranger arrived at my house in Argentina at a very special moment, in two days I will be discharged from covid and I will go out to surf the roads on the coasts of my city… I’m very happy!!

Shantell P.

Overall awesome board. Started with a Blackhawk board but it was lacking some things I would have liked so bought this one. Love all the info on the digital display on the remote. This board is also much more controlled feeling compared to my other board. The low deck and flexibility of it really make a big difference as well. Love the lights and fenders too. Battery life is amazing as well. The only negatives I have to say is that the brakes, even when fully engaged, still allow the board to roll, even on very small inclines. I also expected some kind of instructions for installing the lights and fenders but instead my 2 friends and I scoured the internet and figured it out as we went. There was a lot of trial and error and it took the 3 of us 2 hours to get it all properly installed. The user manual was also more of like a “get started” quick guide. The lights are really nice but as a tweak, it would be nice to have them on a bracket that they clip into to easily be removed for charging/cleaning/etc. I would definitely recommend this board to others!

Joshua L.

The original estimated wait time was 30 to 35 days. I didn’t get any shipping notifications until about 26 days after I ordered it which was worrisome on a $1500 toy purchase, but it showed a shipping label was created at day 27 then it showed up 2 days later, so it still came early. Riding it is amazing! Tons of power. The cruise mode is way more fun than I expected. It corners like a dream. The range is longer than my legs can handle carving around. Well worth every penny!

Jordan H.

Great board. I just got it earlier today and I went on a nighttime ride. It was weird to ride at first but after a while I got the hang of it. Acceleration is smooth along with the ride. It rides like a luxury car! Almost as heavy as one too!

Stacey H.

Good

Robert G.

I can’t get enough of my X3! Loads of fun, great ground clearance, carves great, and plenty of power. It’s my first electric board, and it’ll keep me happy for a long time.

David S.

OK, I received my Ranger X3 as well as my brother-in-law’s Ranger X3 and we hit the golf course and neighborhood first thing. My first impression, and this is a big compliment, is that these boards made me think of Apple design and ingenuity. They just look and feel like absolute premium. As we are both close to 200 pounds we tightened our trucks a little bit but other than that it was ready to go out of the box after I installed the mud guards and headlights. Both of which proved immediate value as the mud guards protected us from puddles that otherwise would have made us dirty, and the headlights lit up the trail confidently at night around the golf course. I cannot say more in clearly, the quality is top of class.

As far as function, it does not disappoint. The power of acceleration and breaking is beyond expectation, and its ability to climb up steep paths surpassed our expectation….again.

Finally we are both first time electric skateboard riders. The learning curve was surprisingly short and we felt confident and comfortable in less than an hour.

These boards are not cheap, but neither is the best Apple iPhone. Let’s be clear, you get what you pay for. I can’t even imagine using a belt driven system.

Stacey H.

It’s a good board all around

Jd M.

Bought x2 when truck was totalled…this is first time ive ever bought a board of anykind…the adrenaline junkie within led to some pain in learning how to ride before/during winter…in the Pikes Peak foothills of the Rocky Mountains area….this sucker IS HoW I GET AROUND/everyday commute of @least 10miles. (I also do a little skatejoring w/my dog)
after 1625 miles since mid oct2020, i only have 2 gripes/manufacture problems, 1 headlight mount SUCKKS! it broke on my very first crash.2 the tread design is ok at best but it does not grip pea gravel roads, grass or snow very well….lets guesstimate 35%wattage waste due to extra torque+spin=not enough GRAB!
But in short time i think ill have a solution that anyone with journeyman or better engineering knowledge can do easily to help thier board also get more grip….anywho…..instead of buying a mid-size puckup truck ….im byuing the x3…then ill have that as my good-dry weather pimpboard…and beefed up x2 fir my bad weather board i recommend it to everyone that shows enough interest that i have to slow/stop for a moment to enlighten them.

I haven’t got one yet but watched hundreds of hours of video the X1 x2 x3 look like a hell of a board for the price

Steve Polito

Hello from Orange County, CA! This was 1000% worth the wait and extra expense. I received my board and promptly took it on some of our mountain biking trails to test its power and performance on bumpy terrain. This is my first electric board and I have been nothing but impressed. The power is really impressive even for a larger guy like me (220lb). It climbs well and turbo mode helps with some of the steeper areas. I’ll need to tighten the trucks before going faster since they come a bit loose. The remote gives really good control both with acceleration and braking. The regenerative breaking adds quite a bit of juice back to the battery when going back down hill. For any paved roads it just handles whatever you want to throw at it. I’m so much more confident with it after riding some single track areas. This board has been a childhood dream come true for me. Thank you, Backfire!! —- Some side note comments and questions: The mudguards require you to remove the default rear wire housing before installing since the part that attaches to the trucks acts as the new wire housing. I’m also curious if there is any danger/concern with the battery when breaking too much with a board at near or full charge. When I go up the trails, some areas are just too steep and I need to walk up so I have a lot of charge when going downhill. I guess I think this way because my car stops its regenerative breaks when fully charged.
