Who is Momo Shack?
Momo Shack is a brand that consists of three first-generation immigrants building from the ground up. A team of a mom (Chef Minu and her son (Leezen Amatya) from Nepal and a friend (Daniel Flores) from Mexico..
We started out with a small 10×10 tent selling Nepalese dumplings, aka Momos, at the Dallas Farmers Market. No restaurant experience, no idea how to open a business bank account – just the will to start something from scratch. Over time, we transitioned into a pop-up model by partnering with local businesses and hosting events together. Once COVID hit, we had to make a decision – figure out a way to stay in the game or pause everything. We chose to keep pushing and launched our Momos @ Home frozen dumplings eCommerce shop going direct to consumers, which helped us stay close to our customers and build authentic relationships with them.
Recently, we got one step closer to our dream as we got into our first retail store – Foxtrot Market. A long-time customer (shoutout @bata_eats) shared the Foxtrot Up & Comer competition details with us on Instagram and the rest was on us. We quickly applied and a few months later, we were chosen as the winner of their Best of Dallas award with over 5,000+ people voting for us.
As we continue chasing the dream of making Momo Shack a national brand, we are making a conscious decision to be authentic with ourselves and ultimately with our brand. It is our mission to share our authentic stories, learn, grow, inspire and uplift each other. What started out as a pop-up shop selling Nepalese dumplings is now evolving into a brand that stands for resiliency, building deeper connections with each other, sharing a piece of our culture through food and creating a community where we belong.
