AC Milan News: Rossoneri Linked With Signing Charles de Ketelaere

AC Milan news: The Milan-based club are interested in signing Club Brugge midfielder Charles de Ketelaere.

De Ketelaere is among the most promising midfielders in Europe. He joined Brugge’s youth academy in 2008 before making his professional debut in 2019.

The 21-year-old has played 90 league games for the Blue-Blacks so far, scoring 19 goals. He helped the Bruges-based club win three Belgium First Division A trophies, along with the Belgium Super Cup.

De Ketelaere won the Belgian Promosing Footballers of the Year accolade last season and is currently on the radar of several top European clubs.

​According to Fabrizio Romano, the AC Milan board is planning to fly to Belgium to reach an agreement with Club Brugge to sign Charles de Ketelaere.

The Belgium international is among the top targets for the Milan-based club this transfer window. They have already reached an agreement with the player over personal terms and are negotiating a transfer fee with the Bruges-based club.

According to a report by Sky Sports, the Rossoneri are planning to make a bid worth £35 million to sign the midfielder. However, they face stiff competition from Premier League club Leeds United, who are also interested in signing the starlet.

What will Charles de Ketelaere bring to AC Milan?

The Belgium international is a versatile footballer who is capable of playing in numerous midfield positions or as a forward. His key strengths are his passing and dribbling skills, coupled with his willingness to help his teammates in defense.

Charles de Ketelaere enjoyed an impressive 2021-22 campaign, registering 14 goals and eight assists in 33 league appearances. As per WhoScored, he averaged 2.2 shots, 1.8 key passes, and 1.4 dribbles per 90 in the league last term.

Hakim Ziyech remains a target for the Serie A giants

The Morocco international was linked heavily with a move to the San Siro at the start of the transfer window but the links have faded as of late. However, as per a report by CalcioMercato, AC Milan are still interested in signing Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech.

Ziyech joined the Blues from Ajax in the summer transfer window of 2020. He has played 46 league games for the London-based club so far, scoring 6 goals.

The 29-year-old midfielder struggled for his game time at Stamford Bridge last season and is expected to leave the club this transfer window.
