A Hero Arts Blog Hop in Support of Ukraine

Hi friends! Today is not our normal blog hop day at Hero Arts but with all the turmoil and conflict in the world, we wanted to turn our thoughts and cardmaking skills into something productive to give to Ukraine. For those of you who don’t know, the blue and yellow of the Ukraine flag symbolize the beauty and calm of the skies above and the joy and prosperity of wheat fields throughout the country. The national flower, the sunflower, symbolizes motherhood. To honor Ukraine, and help counter the devastation and destruction, Hero Arts is donating 100% of our net profits from sales of this Support Ukraine collection.  Funds will be donated to the Ukrainian Red Cross for immediate, on-the-ground help.  Hero Arts will continue their fundraising efforts to also support the long-term rebuilding that will be required to restore schools, roads, homes, and the spirit of the Ukrainian people. What is in this Support Ukraine Collection? Well, let’s take a look.

Or you can see them all here:  https://heroarts.com/collections/support-ukraine

Additionally, Hero Arts is offering a fabulous digital download for only $3.99! Check it out here… https://heroarts.com/products/giving-sunflower-digital-download

Either which way, with the purchase of the products or the download, it’s a great way to support others during a great time of need. I hope you will take a moment to consider it.

As for all my projects on my post, I decided to use the Hero Florals Sunflower Stems, Indigo Hybrid Ink and the Good Vibes Stamp Set. Additionally, outside of the markers, colored pencils, yellow sequins and the clear cellophane envelope, all products are by Hero Arts.

This first card was created using the Sun Background stencil and embellished with Indigo Ink, colored in with colored pencils. The Sunflower was stamped onto Dove White Cardstock using Intense Black Ink, colored in with Copic Markers and colored pencils, then cut out. It was attached to a clear cellophane envelope filled with yellow sequins, adhered to the front of the Sun Background-embellished card (flap went to the backside of the card) and then the sentiment was stamped and attached to cellophane bag. Something about the bright colors on this card feels like it is sending HOPE so naturally the sentiment was perfect.

My next card used Indigo ink for the entire background. Once dry, I rubbed an anti-static tool on the front and proceeded to stamp and emboss the Sunflower randomly using Embossing Ink and White Embossing Powder. I cut a small piece of white cardstock and stamped the sentiment from the collection onto it. String was wrapped around the center and the entire piece was placed on the card front. I stamped, cut out and colored several of the Sunflowers and attached to the card and I was done!

For my last card, I stamped the background using Indigo ink. Then I stamped another sheet of Dove White Cardstock using the same colored ink and flowers (3 times). I used a Nesting Circle Infinity dies to cut out the Sunflowers, colored the entire circle and Sunflower centers with markers and placed them on top of the stamped base card. Soooo easy. The sentiment was stamped in Indigo on Dove White cardstock and attached to the card using a foam dot.

These are just three cards of the many creative possibilities that are out there. Check out the other designers on the hop for their inspiration! They are all amazing!

Thanks for hanging out with me.
