Last Updated on January 14, 2023 by Ernests Embutnieks

There aren’t that many tablets that are under $100, but there are some, and I will list all the best ones in the article, but there are some things you need to understand and know before buying a budget tablet. You can’t compare it to premium tablets like Samsung Galaxy Tab or iPad Pro. You won’t be able to draw on these tablets; you won’t be able to take notes with Stylus on these tablets, etc. the quality of the display won’t be the greatest.

You still will be able to watch YouTube, and movies, use social media apps, browse the internet, do some reading, play music, control your smart gadgets, etc.

Without further ado, let’s narrow down all the budget tablets under $100 price range:

Amazon is a very popular brand when it comes to budget tablets. They always try to keep their products under $100 mark. They are doing a great job by creating these cheap devices and keeping them efficient. They have strong battery life, decent display, and decent performance.

Amazon Fire HD 8 is a bestseller.

It’s a great device for families. All the tablets come with the Amazon Kids app, which is free for Fire tablets. You set up restrictions for 1/2-hour per day, manage the content your children see, etc. Kids enjoy playing with them, and they can be very educational. If it’s dropped – it’s not the end of the world, they are quite cheap, and you can always get a case for an extra layer of protection.

Of course, it’s also great for adults to catch up on some of your shows and manage some smart gadgets around the house and call your friends, browse the internet, read some kindle books, etc.

They released this updated model in October 2022, and it’s 30% faster than the previous model, with a new design that’s thinner than before.

  • Built feels premium
  • Portable size/design

Cons

  • The camera could be better
  • Average performance
  • Speakers could be better

7-inch tablets aren’t that popular. There aren’t that many available. My guess is because the market isn’t that big for these, smartphones are quite close to this size.

I personally like the 7-inch size tablet. You can fit them in one hand and use them similarly to a smartphone.

Let’s get to the Lenovo Tab M7 Gen 3 – the design is great, and it feels very premium. Lenovo knows how to create premium-looking tablets, but when it comes to specs and the overall quality compared to some of the premium tablets…well…it could use some improvements, but considering the price, it offers adequate performance. Actually, considering the price, it’s a very good option. The screen is good, the speakers could be better(it only has one), and the build quality is more than solid. If you are looking for a 7-inch tablet under $100, it’s a very good option.

Overall, I think it’s great for kids, for people that like to travel and need a device where they can stay connected, and good for readers. The screen is decent, and the battery life is good.

You will get all the latest apps from Play Store. You can get YouTube Kids, Google Kids Space, etc. It has all the necessary features to entertain a child.

Don’t confuse it with the Amazon Fire HD 8. This is a different tablet. It’s the Amazon Fire 7-inch tablet. There are a few differences, and the most obvious one is the size.

Every few years, Amazon updates its budget tablets with a new processor and some other features, and in 2022, they did it again. This is already 12th gen Amazon Fire 7.

Here’s what you need to know. Compared to its predecessor, it has a bit better processor, improved battery life, weighs a little less, and the price has increased by $10. Also, it now has USB-C. The SD card expansion now is compatible with 1TB SD cards(before 512GB)

It’s an entry-level tablet that allows you to perform basic tasks on your tablet, you can play some lightweight games on it, and you’re still locked in with the Amazon ecosystem. Often people choose it over Kindle tablets because it has other features that kindle doesn’t offer, but for people that want to use it exclusively for reading, you have to know that Amazon Fire 7 doesn’t have an E-ink display. This means the screen will put more pressure on your eyes.

Don’t confuse this Lenovo Tab M8 with a gen 3 or gen 4 tablet, which is on the way. It’s the old 2nd gen. The newer ones are a bit above $100.

Considering the fact that this tablet was released back in 2019, it’s still among the best tablets you can get under $100 price range.

Here’s all you need to know: it’s a great 8-inch tablet that’s made for browsing the web, browsing social media, video calls, simple tasks, some movies, and videos, chatting with friends, and playing some light games. It won’t be capable of handling more than that. Holding it in hand will feel like a premium tablet. Lenovo is good at making budget tablets feel like premium.

Overall, it’s a good budget tablet with an incredible battery life. (Up to 14 hours)

We’re discovering a new territory here. Everyone knows Lenovo and Amazon, but when we talk about tablets under $100…and they aren’t that many. We have to talk about smaller brands that you haven’t heard of before, most likely.

Cooper 10-inch Android tablet is a decent budget tablet that can handle basic tasks. It’s a bit heavier than any other tablets on the list. 1.98lbs(898g.) if you scroll TikTok or YouTube short for a while, you will feel it on your hands.

Good option if you need a device for basic tasks – reading ebooks, listening to music, watching a movie, playing a lightweight game, surfing the internet, browsing social media, etc.

Probably another brand you haven’t heard of. Winsing. They are making good budget tablets that fit right under $100 mark. It’s rare to find tablets with 10-inch screens under $100.

It’s a basic tablet for basic use and basic tasks, you can’t expect much from it, but it’s good if you intend to read e-books on it, watch movies, tv-shows, store photos, watch YouTube, TikTok, and other social media apps, browse and consume media, music, etc. It will also hold up to 10 hours of battery.

You can get Whatsapp on it, Zoom, Skype, etc. The camera isn’t the greatest, but considering the price, it’s good enough for video calls.

Don’t expect this tablet to do premium tablet stuff, like taking notes, editing photos, HD quality, and playing high-end games.

Overall it deals great with lightweight tasks, but that’s about it. It’s a lightweight 7-inch tablet with decent battery life, good for kids and good for basic tasks.

The last tablet on our list – Pritom M10 Android Tablet. A small, not well-known brand that manufactures these 10-inch tablets. Just like the other tablets on the list it will be able to handle the basic tablet functions, but no more than that, that includes reading, lightweight games, social media, media consumption, movies, tv-shows, YouTube, video calls on low quality, and other basic stuff.

Overall, we would say it can do more than it should, considering the price tag of this device.

How Do I Rate The Tablets?

We rate tablets on a scale from 1 to 10. We put all of these devices in these scenarios:

How Good Is It For Movies? (1-10)
How Good Is It For Note-Taking? (1-10)
How Good Is It For Drawing? (1-10)
How Good Is It For Gaming? (1-10)
How Good Is It For Reading? (1-10)
How Good Is It For Photo-Editing? (1-10)
How Good Is It For Video Calls? (1-10)
How Good Is It For Social Media/Web? (1-10)

We calculate the overall average, and that’s how each tablet gets their rating.

Why Did I Rank Amazon Fire HD 8 above Lenovo Tab M7 (3rd gen?)

Amazon Fire HD 8 was just updated in 2022 with a new processor that has increased the overall performance of the tablet by 30%. On the other hand, Lenovo Tab M7 (3rd gen) was released in 2021. It has a smaller screen and a bit slower processor. It’s smaller but heavier, and Amazon Fire HD 8 has a better screen and a better resolution. In my eyes, it’s newer and better facts.

Verdict: Which Tablet Is The Best Under $100?

8 good options to pick from. All tablets are below $100 mark. Ranging from a 7-inch tablet to a 10-inch tablet. I personally would recommend Amazon Fire HD 8. It’s recently released, it’s a stellar pick for many entry-level tablet users, and the price compared to its performance is more than adequate, but I highly recommend going through each tablet, figuring out your needs, and only then making a decision based on those factors.

These budget tablets will handle well the basic tasks like:

Listening to music, playing lightweight games, reading books, watching movies, tv-shows, YouTube, TikTok, other social media apps, video calls, chatting with friends, media consumption, emails, and other lightweight apps.

These budget tablets (none of them) won’t be able to handle drawing, note taking, photo editing, and movies on HQ, also, the video calls won’t be on HQ, but it can handle that, just on lower quality.
