One of the country’s most well-loved buffet restaurants is finally back to serve its loyal guests who have been waiting since the start of the year for its reopening. Café 1228 in New World Makati Hotel has been a favorite destination for foodies over the years, and now it is offering a fantastic reopening promotion that will sure satisfy its hungry patrons.

Café 1228 is now again open on weekends so you can indulge in an all-you-can-eat dining experience featuring their seven buffet stations offering best-selling dishes from off-the-grill meats and seafood, Asian and local selections, handmade pasta and pizza, decadent desserts, as well as breads, charcuterie, and cheeses. As a welcome back treat, New World Makati is giving a limited-time Book and Buy promo rate of only P1,488 nett per person (regular rate of PHP3,000 nett) for dinner on Fridays, lunch and dinner on Saturdays, and lunch on Sundays until May 2022. This includes unlimited servings of their Prime Rib Steak which by itself is worth the entire buffet price already.

You can find this charming restaurant at the ground floor of New World Makati, which is just in front of the newly renovated Greenbelt 3 in Ayala Center, Makati. Café 1228 is one of the hotel’s signature dining establishments together with Jasmine (Read: Jasmine in New World Makati Reopens With All-You-Can-Eat Dimsum Promo) which I always go to for their unlimited dimsum promotion.

My friends and I met at Café 1228 last Saturday to rediscover their popular buffet selection. It had been a while since we were all together in this type of setting, so it was really a fun evening filled with food, laughter, and overflowing prime rib steaks!

We started with some cheese and hams from the charcuterie station. These are always a good tasty way to start your buffet adventure together with some breads and butter.

I also got some salmon and tuna sushi and sashimi from the Japanese station where you can choose your favorites among the colorful selection. Some of these include California maki, spicy tuna maki roll, inari sushi, and futomaki.

Don’t forget to grab some crunchy and delicious Tempura. I love how the tempura batter is light and crispy so that it highlights the shrimp. There’s also some seaweed or nori salad, miso soup and pickled vegetables.

There’s also a Dimsum Station with Pork Somai, siopao and other starters. Go ahead and get as much as you want.

Right beside it is the Noodle Station is right beside it where you can customize your bowl of noodles according to your preference. Choose some vegetables to go with some seafood items and ask the chefs to prepare your dish. You can also ask them to surprise you and prepare their specialty.

The Seafood Station comes with the freshest seafood items such as crabs, mussels, and prawns. You can have these cooked in Butter Garlic just like I did, or you can also have it done other ways like steamed or grilled.

Now it’s time to go for some heavier items. There are several cooked dishes on display at the Asian counter to fill your plates.

The Beef Brisket was very tender and really good to put on top of rice. There’s also the crunchy Salted Egg Fish Fillet to balance out the meaty flavors.

This will really make you grab more rice because the Chicken Curry works best when you pour its delicious curry sauce on your plate. Other items I saw on the buffet were lechon paksiw, steamed barramundi, spare ribs and pork buns.

But the highlight of the evening was definitely the Prime Rib Steak at the Carving Station. This was actually the first place I went to when I stepped inside the restaurant and this served as my juicy appetizer and main course.

Imagine having unlimited servings of this tender beef which will be sliced and seared right in front of you. I suggest asking to chef to prepare a thick cut of steak for you and have it done medium so that the steak juices will still all be inside.

You can choose from various sauces like black peppercorn, mushroom, or mint jelly. There are also some accompaniments at the carving station to pair with your steak such as Hungarian sausages, tanigue, chicken, pork spare ribs, mashed pumpkin, and roasted vegetables.

There’s also some Roasted Chicken beside the carving station with roasted corn on the cob.

The P1488 promo price already comes with unlimited servings of juices and soda, but you have an option to upgrade your beverages and include free flow local beers, red wine, and white wine for only P588 nett. That’s really such a steal.

For a sweet finish, head over to the Dessert Station and indulge in various decadent desserts such as mango cashew sans rival, ube roulade, walnut royale pie, fruit clusters, bread and butter pudding with vanilla sauce.

There’s also a crepe station with options of mango or banana paired with chocolate, mango, vanilla or strawberry sauce. Don’t forget about the halo halo, mais con yelo, and all the ice cream that you want. Our dinner get-together also happened to coincide with the birthday of my husband, Dexter. So it also turned out to be one of his numerous birthday parties for that week.
