The 2nd edition of the Agrofood Mission to Vietnam was successfully organized and conducted by the EU-Vietnam Business Network (EVBN) from March 15th to March 18th 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. EVBN was proud to welcome a rich and diversified Delegation of 19 companies (that is to say 5 more than in 2015!) coming from 9 different countries of the European Union (Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal and United Kingdom were represented). The products offered by the companies covered a wide range of the Food and Beverage sector: from premium Italian dairy products to French wine without alcohol and from Portuguese regional products to English Superfood and Bulgarian bakery. It goes without saying that the variety of countries and products brought a special touch to this mission and allowed a rich interaction between the European participants and the Vietnamese B2B partners. Different activities and events were offered during the Trade Mission.

An Information Seminar was held on the first morning and allowed the participants to discover different aspects of the Vietnamese market through various experts: Mrs. Delphine Rousselet, Project Director at EVBN; Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, Business Development Director at KANTAR WORLDPANEL; Mr Samuel Maruta, Founder of MAROU CHOCOLATES; Mrs. Florence Oliveira, Business Manager International Brands at ANNAM GROUP; Mrs. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Legal Consultant at EVBN and Mrs. Valentina Salmoiraghi, IP Business Advisor at SOUTH-EAST ASIA IPR HELPDESK. Without jargon or bureaucratic language, the speakers managed to make this Seminar successful and very helpful for the participants.

Two full days of B2B matchmaking in Novotel Saigon and Sofitel Plaza Hanoi with more than 250 meetings were successfully organized along those 2 days of Business forum. A point of sales visit was organized in Ho Chi Minh and the Delegation went to Annam Gourmet, Big C and Coop Mart.

A Dialogue on “Market Access to Vietnam for EU Companies in the Food & Beverage Sector” was held in Hanoi in presence of representatives from Vietnamese government including Ministry of Science & Technology, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Health and  Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Dialogue was also honoured to welcome high level representatives from the EU Delegation, EU member states’ embassies, EuroCham Sector Committees, EU businesses, non-governmental organizations and experts in the prospective fields.

On the whole, the Trade Mission was a real success which allowed the European companies to seize the opportunities and understand the challenges of the Vietnamese market in a short time. The B2B meetings sparked fruitful partnerships and even gave the opportunity to some of the participants to already sign contracts.
